Service Clubs Promote Tradition I Ellyn I.-.'L Donal I :cur it ai- Exploring ways of enhancing the use of the Scottish theme here at Helix was the purpose of the Isle of Skye Com- mittee, according to advisor Mr. Don Bonney. Other members included Mr. Richard Warnock, Alisa Scheidel, Den- ise Richardson, Jim Adams, Chris Grzesiak and Carl Gifford. Scottie Service Squad assisted the ASB and administration with various activities. This included publicity, sell- ing programs and working concessions at sporting events. They also recog- nized club and class advisors with spe- cial awards for Advisor Week. Key Club Cffers Varied Services Key Club was originated as a service to both the school and community to assist their sponsor, the La Mesa Kiwanis. Members in the club must have maintained a B average or better. They helped with the Muscular Dystro- phy Telethon held during the summer, and participated in a Leukemia 10K run. We've Got The Beat! Sporting events, assemblies, and pep rallies were the main events the Varsi- ty Cheerleaders attended. Through victory and defeat they showed their school spirit. Alan Gwinn and Ken Lu- cero, the squads yell leaders, added to the group's perfection. During the summer many of the members attend- ed a Cheer Camp at UCLA. At this camp a cheer stick and ribbons were awarded to the attending members for showing the most spirit. Don Bonney, the team's new advisor, helped the team tremendously.
