Excitement . . . That's What It's All About! Spirited is the best word to describe the 1983-84 I-Ii-Steppers. This active group of girls effectively performed during half-time shows at football games, and parades were a large part of their season's activities. With only thirteen members the drill team's devotion at practice and perfection in routines placed them in first place at the Poway parade, fifth place at Rowland Heights and third place at Mt. Carmel. The Hi-Steppers, although small in number are committed to perform as best as possible and are doing so. This was our finest year, stated captain De Anna Arellano. The following poem, submitted by Estela 5 Clark, served as inspirational guidance for 2 the Hi-Steppers throughout the year. MM The word Excitement just makes me shout, That's what drill team is all about. Drill Team is a lot of fun, It's nothing like I've ever done! Marching down the streets I go, While putting on a pretty show. Moving my arms as sharp as can be, I see the judge just staring at me. Drill Team knows practice is tough, But it's not like football where the game is too rough. Hearing the cheers of people near by, Makes me want to jump up high. Going forward and never looking back, I feel as if l've left a track. Yes, there was money owed and paid, But I'm glad Drill Team was made! ,MR-'4,,aj,,4.
