DEDICATION Parent Teachers Association Because of the countless ways the Hector P.T.A. has helped to improve our school and our community, we wish to dedicate the 1969 WILDCAT to them. The National P.T.A. was founded in 1897. The purposes of the P.T.A. are to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, church, and community, to raise the standards of home life, to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth, to bring into close relation the home and the school that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the training of the child, to develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for every child, the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education. We think our P.T.A. has done an excellent job in fulfilling these purposes. Throughout the years they have contributed many things to our school and our community. They bought playground equipment for the grade school, lockers for the gym, shop equipment, dishes for the Home Economics De- partment; and last year they bought new lights for the grade school. The P.T.A. also sponsors the Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops. These organizations have been very successful and are enjoyed by many of the boys in the community. This is only one way of showing how thankful we are for having parents and teachers who really care about our school and our com- munity. 2

FOREWORD “...everything has a beginning. We, the members of the Hector High School annual staff, have used this idea to help improve the 1969 WILDCAT. We hope we have succeeded and have made this annual even better than last year's. Since our yearbook goes to press early in February and we felt that we should have a twelve-month coverage of school events, the first section, our spotlight section, in- cludes some events of last winter and spring. We have tried to give added emphasis to the grade school students. The following color page shows this year's first grade on the playground. ALMA MATER Standing firmly on a hilltop Clearly outlined neath the blue, Emblem of the best and noblest Hector High School true. Hail; all hail; to thee Dear Hector Our dear high school true We will ever sing your praises To the white and blue. Best of high schools Friends so loyal Love and faith to thee we bring With thy spirit ever near us This our song shall ring. Hail; all hail; to thee Dear Hector Our dear high school true We will ever sing your praises To the white and blue.
