Marianne Urtel Pforzheim, Germany Dear Marianne, 1t's been ten years since you were an exchange student in our class of 52 . Perhaps you would like to know what has happened to your former classmates in the U. S. A. Marilynn Wise has really gone up in the professional world. She is a pilot for the Smooth Smith Airlines of which she and her husband are co- owners. You would never recognize Augie Burns. When he was called to service he went without hesitation because he thought with his height he could easily see the world. But poor Augie! He contracted a tropical disease and shrunk to four feet, eight inches. Can you imagine it '? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Jack Graber is now doing the Tarzan series in the movies. He feels right at home -- because his old pal Ed Hren is taking the part of Cheetah, the monkey, in the same series. You'd never guess who is designing French bathing suits in Paris -- none other than that shy friend of ours -- little Wally Mullins! He has made quite a name for himself with his latest creations. He has a lovely modelworking for him. She goes by the name of Lila Lione but she's really our former classmate, Pauline Sweney. Margaret Fisher has surprised everyone. No one would suspect her of being a sly woman detective working for the F. B. l. Her latest assignment is to find out what became of Harry Truman after the 1952 elections. You have probably heard or read accounts of Tom Schuster's daring war re- cord in the Air Force. While taking a furlough in Hawaii he met a beautiful Hawaiian Princess and they are happily married. Jeanette Eggert's frequent giggles finally paid off. She is now making a for- tune by starring as Smiley Burnette's girlfriend, Laughing Lily, in the movies. Several of our former classmates have made good in the movies. Bill Antrim has his own studio in Hollywood and has turned out several entertaining films. His latest movie Cheaper by the Half Dozen featured that pretty actress, Dimp- les Delight, who is really Flora Maye Guernsey. 1 think you'll agree that Marjean Frame has quite an interesting job. She is the matron of Welcome Home, a place where lonely old bachelors come to spend the rest of their lives. ln the Women's Air Corps, one of our classmates has achieved a high posi- tion. Commanding Officer Carol McNeill keeps the young ladies in her squadron right on their toes. Paul Riley has become a Methodist Minister. His sermons are widely read and loved. He has inspired many and helped them in time of need. 18

I read the article in the NEW YORK TIMES that told how you are traveling extensively giving lectures on the American Way of Life. Southern Indiana has gained a worthy citizen. Bob Piepho has moved there and has made many friends in his locale. He knows they will come to him sooner or later with their undertakings. You see, he is the community's mortician. Jenneane Anderson is driving a sleek new limosine nowadays. She has made thousands with her chain of drive-ins all over the country. She has become famous for making Butch's Bulging BarB-Q's. Bill Urbas is seeing a great deal of the U. S. free. He is a traveling sales- man,using the company's money. He sells anything from curry combs for horses to reducing machines for fat women. You'd never guess who is now a popular night club singer. She is touring the country singing with big-name bands in various night spots. She goes by the name of Fu-Fu Filleyes but she's better known to us as Hester Muzzall. Mary Fickle has done a good deed for the DeMotte community. She married her Schoolday sweetheart and they have five husky little boys which will make a splendid basketball team in future years. Howard Hickman discovered his ambition was to be a doctor. He is now a famous surgeon in a New York City Hospital for Animals. There is a handsome young man on television who thrills the ladies with his romantic poetry reading and singing. Yes, women from l6 to 60 simply idolize Crooner Kent who is really Kenton Hoover. Janet Wahl is another who cares more for the simple life. She and her hand- some husband are farmers. They have 21 cows, 37 hogs, 4 horses, 19 sheep, and 6 kids fchildren, that isj. Did I say, simple life ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Quite popular with the teenagers are the song recordings of Bev and Barb fThomas and Wilson, respectively., They are touring the country in USO shows and are not only popular with teenagers but have become servicemen's favorite Pin Up Girls . As for me, my husband and I are owners of the Double W. Dude Ranch out here in Arizona. We have many famous guests -- just last week the Lone Ranger stayed here. This week for entertainment we are featuring Les Paul and his band. Guess who is his Number 1 guitarist. None other than Shirley Birky.
