Freshmen braved a new world this year The big step from junior high to high school could be damaging to some groups but Hazenls freshmen wouldn't let a thing like that daunt them. Fresh and bright in their new world, Hazenls lowest class went busily to work and elected a presi- dent, Diane Sodorff. Diane began to work hard and started by selecting a freshman board. The board got a late start due to the fact that it didn't exist until early in December. Regular meetings were held Monday nights, and plans began taking shape. A dance, a bus wash, a clothing drive, and a valentine sucker sale were all dis- cussed. The board also began collecting ideas for Pep Week, including the possi- bility of decorating their gym section in the balcony for the big assembly. For most freshmen, the year was one of new discoveries, new friends, and new activities. Football and basketball games, dances, and concerts were all heavily attended by freshmen. And when their freshman year was over, they realized that they only had two years until they became Seniors. Mrs. Williams enjoys a good talk with students. Mr. Wicks discusses schedule changes with students Left to Right, Standing: Debbie Angell, Debbie Hewitt, Kay Evans, LuAnn Call, Cheryl Forsythe, Marjory Bennett, Linda Pillo Huff, Karen Kever. Seated: Shawn Wurster, Diane Sodorff, Janice Coleman.
