This year, Room 300 would have been the origin of singing voices heard in the halls. Vibrations were heard from Hazen's three major singing groups, Acappella Choir, Advanced Glee and the Freshman Glee. Under a new di- rector, Mr. McManus, they have done an outstanding job. Acappella Choir contained both males and females and was the main preforming group. Sue Dobes was choir president, and she did,her best to see that the mem- bers enjoyed working together, and, more important, were able to work to- gether un selfishly. The All-Northwest Choir chose three Hazen performers for a concert in March. They were Denise Syjud, Diane Turcott, and Bonnie Higgins. E Advanced Glee was composed of soph- omore, junior, and senior girls who performed at all music concerts. Incoming frosh participated in the Freshman Glee, to develope their music- ianship and understanding. A Freshman Nonette was formed and they also pre- formed at concerts along with several outside engagements. 1970-71 was a year when the music department didn't grow in numbers, but grew in another special way. The mem- bers grew to be big enough to get along with others to the extent that the group is one and consequently more important that the individual, in the words of Mr. McManus.
