Language clubs spout wie gentsn and i,como esta? 97 Sprechen sie Deutsch? If you do, then being a member of the German club would have been a rewarding experience. Under the direction of Mr. Saltonstall and president Mike Van Zonneveld, members observed German holidays. In October they had a pumpkin carving contest and watched movies about Ger- many. A visit to a continental resturant proved to be one of the highlights of the year. 'gSpanish Club is a way to broaden one's understanding of the cultural as- pects of Spanish speaking countries. Besides, you learn to make good tacos!', Such was the opinion of one member of the Spanish club. This year, under the leadership of Roxy Benner, members ofthis club participated in the International Dinner which fea- tured entertainment by a Spanish group. Highlighting the year for both mem- bers and their advisor, Dr. deMartinez, was a taco dinner.

The sale of pom-poms, assembling tray favors for a rest home, hosting a pump- kin-carving contest, sponsoring a pancake breakfast at R.D.'s XXX, attending D.E.C.A. conferences in Olympia and Southcenter, and giving parties at any excuse formed a full year for the Distributive Ed. students. Required duties in this two-block class included, litting out the large dis- play case, clocking-in, creating companies, and working with a cash registeri Mr. Richard Payne, the new advisor, prepared the students for the ultimate goal of attending the annual competition conference in Yakima hosted by the Wash- ington D.E.C.A. Skiing the Pacilic Northwest with Jean Claude Killy was just one of the things Ski Club did this year. Actually this was done by viewing a film of the same title. President Kevin Craig led the spirit- ed Ski Club on several ski jaunts in the Washington mountains. Among the places visited were Stevens Pass and Crystal Mountain. It was also through the Ski Club that the annual trip to Jackson Hole was publicized. Several members participated in the excursion during Spring Vacation. And by many, it was considered to be the highlight ofthe skiing year.
