Hazen 12 Glacier 7 Hazen came from behind during the second half in the cold of Highline Sta- dium to beat the Glacier Grizzlies 12-7. Hazen was favored for an easy win but picked up many costly penalties. Many of the 12 penalties stopped High- lander threats during crucial moments of the game. Beane scored on a 4 yard run and the other touchdown came on a' 63 yard Tim Lambro to Frank Reed pass which put Hazen ahead for good. 9 Darrell Beane goes over for Hazenfs first touch- down, as Hazen went on to beat Glacier 12-7. Hazen 32 Tyee 36 Tyee rallied back in the final quarter from a 32-22 deficit and squeezed out a 36-32 victory over the Highlanders. Both teams had strong offenses as they each scored 5 touchdowns. There was not a single punt during the game. Scoring came on two runs by Frank Reed, one by Tim Lambro, and two Reed passes, one each to Dirk Crump and Tom Lambro. Much praise was in order for Hazen's offensive line which, even though greatly outsized by Tyee, was able to open good holes for Hazen backs. Hazen defenders force the Tyee ballcarrier out ofbounds on a crucial fourth down play. Hazen 28 Kentridge 12 Hazen took a 14-0 halftime lead and held on to beat Kentridge 28-12. Though Hazen suffered 10 penalties, one calling back a touchdown, the Hazen offensive team was able to score three touchdowns with the other coming on an 86 yard kickoff return. All four touchdowns were scored by Gary Reed, who had his best night ofthe season. Hazen scored twice in the first half, but in the second half Kentridge brought the score to 14-12. Hazen then won, going away with two more touchdowns laterin thehalf. Kentridge running back is tackled by two members of Hazen's hard hitting defense.

Q an The homecoming queen, Sue Fife, and princesses Karen Hash, Lorraine Clear, Cheryl Houser, and Jan Simonds were royally intro- duced at halftime. Each received a bouquet of roses from their official escort. Queen Sue added words of encouragement as flash bulbs popped around them. Climaxing homecoming was a semi-formal dance held Halloween night. The queen and her court portrayed well the theme, Make Me Smile, as they led off the first dance of the evening. Muted lighting and a candle-lit atmosphere added to the setting. Green, gold and blue were the predominant colors. Sponsored by Boys' Club, Hazen's first homecoming set an exciting tradition for years to come. ll7

Hazen 23 Renton 18 A crowd of nearly 6,000 fans packed into Renton Stadium and watched Hazen pull out a thriller over Renton, 23-18. lt was Hazen's first win over Renton in the Highlander's short two year history. Renton scored first on a 19 yard run in the first quarter but on the following kickoff, Frank Reed broke clear for 34 yards and a touchdown. As a result Renton's lead was cut at 8-7. Tom Lam- bro intercepted a pass and kicked a :field goal, but Renton came back with a field goal of their own to lead at half- ltime, ll-10. Renton scored right away in the sec- ond half on a 34 yard run and took an 18-10 lead. With about two minutes 30 seconds left, Frank Reed passed to Dirk Crump at Hazen's 303 Dirk later- aled to Gary Reed, who then ran 80 Lyards down the sideline to bring the score to 18-16. With one minute 54 seconds left, Steve Glisson recovered a Renton fumble. With 30 seconds re- maining, Frank Reed went over from the one and Hazen went ahead 23-18. This is how the score remained as the final gun went off and jubilant Highlander fans stormed onto the field. It was a perfect end to a great season.
