Hazen had good balance both offensively and defensively making it very hard for the opposition to find weaknesses in the Highlanders. Hazen placed three players on the NPSL all-star team: Mark Carr at defen- sive tackle, Nevin Miller at linebacker, and Tom Lambro was the unanimous choice as place kicker. This year at the football banquet Darrell Beane was voted the Most Im- proved Player. Dirk Henningsen received the Inspirational Award and Nevin Miller was voted Team Captain and winner ofthe Elk's Achievement Award. Head coach Don Anderson summed up the season this way: You always try to finish first and we almost did but we were very pleased with our second place finish. The tremen- dous support of the student body was greatly appreciated by the team and it really helped us to know the students were behind us. To finish second place in the school's second varsity year is a real accomplishment and with a fine retuming nucleus next year we may do even betterf, P- I S Head Coach Don Anderson W L Kent-Meridian 8 0 HAZEN , up ysti , tiivi 1 2 s 4 ryw c lasis A 3 Highline .2 3 ' 2 4 Kentndge , e T ' 7 if K ,sg Wifi' gk.
