970-71 . . Vice President, Kris Fanning ,,,,.....-maid Is student govemment a thing of the past? Not yet, this year our student leaders were still in the spotlight, en- couraging involvement, that all-famil- iar word. The year began with the now tradi- tional magazine drive, climaxed by the ice-cream feed. Paula Morgan, SBA Secretary, carried out fall Waskowitz successfully. A carnival rummage sale was in the making for winter, and other activities filled the rest ofthe year. Under the leadership of Jim Jacob- son, SBA president, the 1971 officers were successful in living up to the good example of past Hazen governments. Hazen began with a debt ofsome 538,000 and in only three years it has been almost totally wiped out. Raising funds was not the only concern of student leaders. Subjects such as inter- school relations, the I.S. program, and other problems were referred to the student senate. 1970-71 certainly was not a perfect year for student leaders, but the effort was there, and the opportunity for students to do their part was always available. .Ar 5 'lNr- 7-., 7 eww'-vfiwxifsi Historian, Nancy Hash 1 faff.i+ ,Z X, J, .,,,-Q-v ' E 7412.35 .H lO7
