Student soul surfaced bet- ween classes and at lunch. Dancing to the music of Sly and the Family Stone or Gladys Knight and the Pips traditional walks to class be- came rhythmic strolls. Rock surpassed folk music and blue grass music in popu- arity among eighth graders. Polling classmen, over all group favorites included Black Oak Arkansas, Chicago, and Edgar Winter Afternoon homework went easier with music. I can study so much better if songs like Angie or Hello Its Me are playing said Lydia Farris.
