CLASS HISTORY In September of 1944, we began our career in school. Charles Huffer, Rich- ard Sorrows, Mike Grady, Charles Newsom, Randa Sims, Gladys Sams, Lecil Thompson, Frances Tefteller, Peggy Craig, and Bobby Murphy were greeted that first day by Mrs. Morton Neel. The prospective seniors of '56 had started their joumey through Hazen High. Our group proceeded to the second grade and we were certainly proud of ourselves. This year our teacher was Mrs. Lyn Hall. Lecil Thompson left us. Bobby Clarke and Raymond Hartlieb joined our lively group. The third year Gerald Sample, Shirley Edge, and Bobbie Jean Stiers en- larged our class. We were growing by leaps and bounds. We were taught by Mrs. Forrest Sims our fourth year. Evalyn Rogers and Shirley Whitehead made a nice addition to our class and we were glad to have Lecil Thompson back again. Clarice Perry, Curtis Adams, Doris Cunningham, Joy Scott and Joyce Hen- dricks heard of our growing class and joined us the fifth year. We were taught by Mrs, Jimmy Mills. The sixth year, Charles Huffer left us. Many new faces enlarged our class this year, Marilyn Chlapecka, Gloria Haynes, lla Holmes, Omega Mayfield, and Dale Newkirk started the steady path through Hazen School with us. As we entered Junior High School, Billy Uhiren, Royce Johnson, Loretta Moore, Milly Williams, Don Vought, Alvin Gray, Nellie Carter, Sammy Van Houten and Lois Jean Slaughter joined us. We were progressing rapidly, at least in number, Betty Pearl Toll and Shirley Stipp entered our group in the eighth grade. We were really on our way toward our goal of graduating. Our Freshman year, and were we proud! Virginia Graves signed up with us this year. We won the Junior Annual Contest with Gladys Sams as our candi- date. Our tenth year we were honored when the Homecoming Queen, Gladys Sams, was chosen from our grade. We were quite thrilled to be Juniors, We gave our play Off the Track and a Hawaiian Junior-Senior Banquet, Carroll Long and Don Jones joined us that year. As Seniors we have had Mr. Kytle as homeroom teacher, We welcomed Charles Huffer who rejoined our class. Bobbie Jean Stiers got hit with Cupid's arrow and changed her name to Dooley. We have 41 seniors who are looking forward to our class play, the Junior- Senior Banquet, the Senior trip, graduation, and most of all, to the future. Compiled by: Shirley Ann Edge and Bobbie Jean Dooley
