Sandau, D. Walker, M. Huber, J. Chapman. Hazen, this year, reinstated its claim of being a perennial powerhouse in The Missouri Basin Conference. Eight seniors, led by their co-captains, Barry Voeltz and Steve Chase, (pictured at right) formed the bulwark of the attack. The Bison rambled through their first eight opponents without any difficulty. On the last day of the season, when injuries had eaten away the inner core of the team, Washburn's Cardinals journeyed to Hazen to determine the conference champion. With two minutes left in the game, the outcome was still undetermined; then disaster struck in the form of an intercepted pass. The Bison had lost, but could still claim a lion's share of the co-championship they won, because of their effort, determination and the fine traits of citizenship which they displayed in winning or losing. 27

The new Queen began her reign by leading a cheering student body in a snakedance through downtown Hazen. The bonfire was set off by the Queen, and the customary cheers and faculty speeches followed. The next day dawned crisp and clear, with only one thought in everyone's mind; BEAT RIVERDALE. The team responded with a stirring victory which had all viewers cheering them on. The delightful twenty four hours ended with a dance in the school auditorium. The Royal Court The Queen is Crowned
