HOME ECONOMICS DEPART]) Mrs. Nancy Hudson is a graduate of Radford College. She teaches Home Economics I and has a B.S. degree. Mrs. Hudson is a sponsor of the Future Homemakers of America Club. She also teaches Introductory Physical Science. Mrs. Hudson is well quali¬ fied for her job. She gets along well with her students which is a necessity of being a good teacher. One very active teacher is Mrs. Katy Jo Powers. She received a B.S. degree from Madison College and did graduate work at VPISU and the University of Virginia. Mrs. Powers teaches Consumer and Homemaking I, II, III, IV and a Specialized Area Home Economics. She sponsors the FHA Club and is the Advisor for Dickenson County Federa¬ tion of the FHA. Mrs. Powers served as President of Delta Kappa Gamma, an Honorary Teachers Society, for two years; she is head of the Homemaking Department and has been County Dept. Chairperson for three years.

BUSINESS DEPARTMENT BU Besides being an English teacher, Miss Jackie Collins also teaches Typing I. She spends most of her spare time doing what she likes best . . . crocheting and singing. Typing I, Clerk-Typing I, General Business, and Bookkeeping I are the subjects Mr. Harold Byers teaches. He graduated from King College with a B.A. degree. Mr. Byers sponsors the F.B.L.A. Club and the Junior Class. Mrs. Lana Taylor is a teacher with many talents. She has a B.S. de¬ gree from East Tennessee State University. In addition to teach¬ ing Shorthand I, Clerk Typing I, and Clerk Typing II, she is also a F.B.L.A. sponsor, Senior Class sponsor, and Secretary of the DEA. Mrs. Taylor’s interests in¬ clude needlepoint, sewing, crocheting, knitting, reading, swimming, playing the piano, and singing in the church choir. 20

PHYSICAL AND DRIVER EDL Mrs. Shirley Salyer has an A.A. degree from Hiwassee College and a B.S. degree from E.T.S.U. She teaches Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education. Mrs. Salyer is the sponsor of our basketball, volleyball, and ping-pong intramurals. Her biggest interes t is the store business. Not only is Mr. Homer Deel an English teacher, a bus driver, and sponsor of the E.B.L.A., but he also teaches Physical Education and is interested in basketball and ping-pong. n Mr. Larry Compton teaches Physical Education, Driver Education, and Health. He is also Assistant Football, J.V. Basketball, and Head Baseball Coach. Mr. Compton attended Lincoln Memorial University and graduated with a B.S. degree. Our “on the road” Driver Education teacher is Mr. Norman Mullins. He graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with a B.S. degree. Mr. Mul¬ lins is also our Varsity Basketball Coach. 22
