MS £ Tigerettes Claim Second Place in District Our theme began to catch fire as we watched a quickening of the Haysi Tigerettes. It’s a new ballgame, some new superstars, and a new ex¬ citement! Girls Basketball is on the rise again at H. H. S. With a great team of girls and a good coach, the Tigerettes finished the season with a record of 13- 1, placing them 2nd in the Clinch Valley District. This year District. . . next year who knows! On to bigger and better things.
While at Haysi, the visiting committee stayed at beautiful Breaks Interstate Park. This was a new experience for the committee. They had to learn how to drive along our win¬ ding roads, between the chug-holes, and how to get out of the way of movin’ coal trucks—fast!! Evaluation—probably the most talked about subject at school this year. Like our new name, our theme, like our whole annual . . . it’s new and different. In April every aspect of our school underwent evaluation. Months and months were spent in hard work and preparation, and the evaluating committee arrived. A time of testing . . . and we survived. Evaluation Comes To H.H.S. Miss Evans, as usual, active in preparing for evaluation. Beginning of a meeting . . . and . . . after the meeting. If you take my picture one more time . . . Class room instruction was observed. Work . . . faculty meetings . . . “Betty did you lose your folder AGAIN?” . . . work . . . class observation . . . reports . . . com¬ mittees . . . hot cortee—and tempers . . . WORK . . . it’s over at last . . . AHHH!!! 10
