being the champion fire eater of the West. Deloris Graves is the manager of the circus, and talk is that Dean and Deloris will soon team up. Ronnie Strop has gone to Africa on a big game hunt. Seems as though he could never find anything to chase in high school. He is hunting for a lion because Art Soncksen who has the job of twisting the tail of the lion to make him roar with Metro-Golden Mayer, finally twisted the tail off. Gwen Hanley is a great opera singer anitrumpet player for the Hayseed Chorus and Band of Hayes Centerg with Phyllis Glee as drummer and director. Phyllis is still trying to get a band started in Elsie but it appears as only one person from Elsie is interested. we happened to go by a store window and saw Gates typewriters for sale. These typewriters were named after Wayne Gates, who is the world's champion typist. He can type one hundred sixty words per minute. Just a few more than he could in high school--one hundred forty-three more, that is. Going by the shop building we heard the shop teacher, Kenneth Kinney giving the shop boys a lecture on how to use sand paper and hack saw blades. It seemed like old times to hear that because,we were always hearing Mr. Harder lecture to Kenneth on how to use sand paper and saw blades. Shirley Garrett has become a reporter, and is known as Polly Pry. The editor informed us that hhe interviews a criminal while he is committing the crime and gets to-morrows news last week. Joel Goucher is now a great inventor. He has invented a Restwell matress for oyster beds, a bommerrang collar button that will return to the person that drop- ped them and exercises for reducing one's income tax. Goonge Miller is manager of the famour Eat and Run Restaurant, and married Verla Anderson, who is a great pancake flopper. George spends most of his time at his hobby, analyzing hash. We saw a billboard picture of Marilyn Anderjaska. She is the star of a new motion picture, 'Waiting for the Fleet to Come In.' Seems as though she was do- ing that her Senior year. Phyllis LaShell is now owner of a bus line from Elsie to Hayes Center. She always did think-tha certain people from Elsie should come to Hayes Center often and so has provided the way. The only one of our class who really did settle down was Hazel Ward, who has just been picked the model housewife of Hayes County. Last but not least we found that Lloyd Christner is an auctioneer for a to- bacco plantg Sheldon Fuller is the manager and tester. Xa Sincerely, Robert McNutt Ffa? Jim Laird Us X, ' . X l NX Xf l X S N B A K D A Y The Seniors accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Hanley and Pam and Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Counce, left Hayes Center, Thursday evening, May 1,atten thirty. we drove to Atwood, Kansas, where the bus broke down and it was about daylight when we again started on our way to Colorado Springs. We arrived at the Springs about three O'clock and checked in at the Acacia Hotel That afternoon everyone did what they wanted. On Saturday we went to Canyon City, where we visited the State Prison. Most of the students bought articles made by the prisoners. Later in the day we went up to Royal Gorge and saw thagreat suspension bridge and much beautiful mountain scenery. Most of the party took the trip down to the bottom of the Gorge. Many pictures were taken and most of the students purchased curios. Sunday we went to the Cave of the W1nds,where most of the Seniors invested in Alpine hats. After seeing the sights here we journeyed to the Garden of the gods and enjoyed the, seenery here. Sunday afternoon we went back to the Acacia, checked out our baggage and head- ed for home, arriving in Hayes Center about midnight, tired but happy.
