JUNIORS In September 1944, twenty eight Freshmen enrolled in Hayes County High School. This year nineteen of the original number remain. All finished their Freshman year here except Keith Smith who moved to Colorado with his parents, and Wanda Mosely left our number because of illness. At the end of our Freshman year Bernice Brown moved to Missouri with her parents, and Donna Bartell moved with her parents to Elwood. , When Sophomores we were glad to welcome Richard Peterson into our group. He spent his Freshman year at the Agricultural School at Curtis. Lorrine McNutt moved to McCook the last semester. At the close of this term Gloria Irland returned to California, Willard Reimer moved to Culbertson with his parents, and Roger Seed with his parents to Oregon. This year we were glad to welcome back Eileen Hopkins, one of our former members, who attended school in Wauneta her Sophomore year. On January 24, 1946, we presented the annual Junior Play, The Hen- peeked Hero. The afternoon matinee was well attended, and we had a packed house for the evening performance. We all enjoyed practicing under the direction of Miss Alice A. Ehler. The play was presented by the following cast: Helen Hallmark, a College Senior ---------- Ruth Carter Doris Darlett, another Senior ------ ---- M aydine Potter Botsky, a rushing Russian ---- - ---- ----Curtis Bodeman Lily, Russia's fairest lily-- ------ ---- -B onnie Reese Barber, a defective detective ---- ----Charles Strop Ted Slocum, the football coach ------ ---- Le onard Nelms Mrs. Holden, Mother-in-law ---------- ---- E ileen Hopkins William Brown, the Henpecked Hero -------- -Richard Peterson lantha Brown, hed romantic bride ----------- Delores McKillip Bud Dedman, a dramatic star- ------- ---- - t--Bernard Orman Countess Kolrnanoff, a Russian Countess ----- Verna Dell Johnson Property Managers were: Jim McDonald, Gary Maucher, Robert Repass Harold Richards and Vaugn Wilson. Floor Managers were: Alpha Lacey, Iris Pinn and Marjorie Fisher. M. Counce, Our class colors are Scarlet and Gray, with red roses as our Class flower.
