Dedication The Hayden yearbook staff would like to dedicate this 1977 yearbook to Mrs. Morgan and Mr. Hall. These two have done much to improve the quality of Hayden High School. Mrs. Morgan is the speech instruc- tor, a class sponsor, has directed the class plays for many years, and she has also been the journalism teacher for the previous years. This year she has been the student council sponsor. Mr. Hall has been the head football coach for many years. In 1973 his team qualified for the state quarterfinals. In 1974 and 1975 his team went to the state semi-finals and 1976 saw his team go to the state quarterfi- nals. Mr. Hall has also been head wrestling coach. He had many individual champions and his teams consistently placed high. »■} 2

Senior Class Prophecy Ten years have passed since that memorable day, when the class of 1977 graduated from Hayden High School. There is a large number of these graduates gathered at the National Final Rodeo in Hayden, Colorado. PAT ZABEL is defending his title as all-around champion for the sixth straight year. Pat is a full-time cowboy and does nothing but travel to rodeos. DAVID HELLYER and VANCE FULTON are both entered in the bull riding competition. These two have won so many belt buckles that they have started donating them to RAY MANZANARES’ western leather store, the biggest store in Dallas, Texas. DAVID TEMPLE is also at the rodeo as chairman of the queen contest. David enjoys working with those girls. His yearly judge for the contest is MR. GILBERT. MRS. MORGAN is one of the judges in the saddle bronc competition. Providing intermission entertainment is PENNY RHODES who is going to parachute into the arena. She will be jumping from a plane piloted by the Red Baron, LAMBERT PITNEY. Other intermission entertainment will be presented by SHAYNE RIENKS demonstrating the skill of her five sheep dogs gathering up her herd of fifty sheep. The photographers for this big event are KAREN RHODES and WENDY HAYES. Karen is known for her ’’under the action” shots, and Wendy is still trying to get animals to say ’’cheese.” The clown who saves all of the cowboys’ lives is none other than MIKE STEELE. When the bulls give him any trouble, Mike just wrestles them down. If it seems strange that everything around has spots, it’s because VICKI MORTON is the stock contractor. She puts spots on everything: horses, bulls, and even barrels. And, in the center of the arena, is that renowned scientist. Dr. MARK SIGNS, doing a study to find out how the spots got there. Starting the rodeo is SHELLIE BOWLAND who took time from teaching at Oral Roberts University to give the cow- boys a prayer. Announcing the rodeo is the man with the golden voice, LARRY NAY. Keeping the chutes full is TIM JACOBS. As we look around the audience, we see the winner of the Hayden 500 Stock Car Race, BRYAN WARD. Bryan’s buddy, TOM WYMAN, was also in the race, but ran out of gas. In the audience is THERESA KAGIE, the Roller Derby Queen. At the top of the stands we see PEGGY BENNETT and DAWN SCHONLAU selling popcorn. They have invented a new kind of popcorn which pops after it is in your mouth. Taking tickets at the gate is BRETT HICKS. He owns the stadium and likes to count the money as it comes in. Directing traffic in the parking lot is JOAN MONTIETH. She's known as the toughest cop in the state. After the rodeo, LEON RAILSBACK and VICTOR HATCH were seen delivering beer to the discotheque across the street. They are co-owners of the beer company in which they already had a large investment. The discotheque is owned by SHERRY HAUKOS. Her famous nightly dancer is TAMMY BARNES. In the corner is MISS NORWALK, the bouncer. The one-man band is the fabulous JERRY MURPHY. DENNIS POURIER also performs here. He does his famous disappearing act which was perfected while he was still in high school. There’s BILL HOLMES. He owns a large clothing manufacturing business. With him is his first-rate model, DIANA MURPHY. So much for the successful seniors of 1977. There is one, though, who didn’t quite make it. JIM HAYES can still be found on the street corner watching the girls go by. Sponsored by THE ROCK SHOP - Steamboat Springs, Colorado A
