Honor the Past We Point With Admiration to Those Graduates Girls' Basketball Champs - 1926 The Edison School was built in 1900. The Dis- trict was bonded for $2500 which completed the lower floor. The upper floor which was to be the high school was completed later. The building was used until 1921 when the seventh and eighth grades and the high school moved into the Hay- den Union High School. As our country observes this milestone in our history, you might take time to reflect upon how the basis for this cele- bration is related to you. The unique elements of our country’s past are a part of you. After all, you rep- resent what is left of the Golden West. The independence, self-reliance, and the spirit of adventure are qualities that built the West; qualities which are part of your heritage. The present age represents a revival of reawakening and renewal goal-setting. These social processes are taking place with an emphasis upon the importance of successful traditions of the past. Change and difference are two things that can be said about the future. The challenge is determining WHAT should be changed and what should be different. That challenge is your, as is the future. Who Excelled Hayden Union High School The Hayden Union High School built in 1921 was one of the most modern in all of Yampa Valley. As Hayden’s first water sys- tem was installed in the fall and winter of 1913-14, and the sewer system in 1921-22, the new high school was modern in all respects. It had a swimming pool, an excel- lent gymnasium, a science room, and many large classroooms. There have been many fine teachers and administrators and Hayden schools can be proud of the good scholar, ath- letes and students who have graduated pre- pared to accept the responsibilities of adult life.
