Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1972 volume:

Dedication Through the wins and losses, the spirited crowds, and crowded gymnasiums, the touchdowns, pins, baskets, and hurdles - each one of you teachers has stayed with us. Together we have had both sunny and gloomy days. All these have led to our friend- ships with you as adults, teachers, and just one of us. Your way of treating us as people as well as students will remain in our minds and hearts through life. Our class wishes that this feeling of pride and understanding may always flow freely between this faculty and the students. So to the teachers of Hayden High School, who inspired us to look for greater achievements in life, and whose person- alities have won the admiration of the Senior class, we fondly dedicate this 1972 Annual. Education is painful, continual, and difficult work to be done by kindness, by watching, by warning, by precept, and by praise, but above all - by example. Class of ’72 MRS. Class Prophecy The year is 1982. Mr. Reagan and Mrs. Morgan decide to check up on the class and see what trouble they are in now. Due to pollution and war most of our class has moved to the moon, so they will visit the ones on earth first. They put on gas masks and with guns in their hands they advance cautiously. Through the smog they see Patty as a guidance counselor talking to Dave Wright. He tells us that he has just sold his formula for an after-shave that will kill the odor of smog and attract girls by the dozen. Mrs. Morgan sees a crowd of girls heading for Dave and, although Mr. Reagan wants to delay a few minutes, hurries on. In Milner they find George, Pat, and Gale collecting beer cans to sell for recycling. As they are working hard at emptying more beer cans, they cannot talk long, and our one-time sponsors catch a plane. The pilot turns out to be Janet who has married a millionaire and bought TWA. She says that she is kept busy making flights to the moon and mixing drinks (for the passengers, of course). As we land in Alaska we are met by Frank who spends his time manufacturing flashing fluorescent lights and racing ski-doos with the enemies. He directs us to John who is running a co-ed wrestling camp for the Eskimos. He has already sent two boys and one girl to State. They catch another plane, piloted by Janet's husband, and travel to Arabia where they find Randy and his five wives. He is very busy with his 7 daughters and 2 sons and does not even try to speak to them over the noise of his home. They manage to escape from his harem (again Mrs. Morgan has to pull Mr. Reagan away) and take a boat to Mexico. There they find Georgia working in a school for the deaf. After meeting her husband they continue to Brazil where Martin and Dave are building fences. As they are busy chasing peasants with their red-pickup, Mrs. Morgan and Mr. Reagan cannot catch them to talk to them. So they return to the coast and catch a flight to the moon. They are surprised to find Lorie and Peggy as their hostesses. Both spend their spare time changing diapers and sobering up their husbands. At last they reach the moon and the first person they see as they step down is Dean. He is an aeronautics officer and teaches his work to girls, to which he doesn't object. They hurry on and stop to rest in a church. Imagine their surprise when the priest turns out to be Mike. He tells them the sad story of how he wore one of his see-through shirts one day and had to resort to priesthood to rid himself of the girls that followed him around. They leave Mike to his problems and go visit the school. There they find Nancy teaching literature and Debbie teaching speech. Mrs. Morgan, however, refuses to repeat what kind of literature and speech they are teaching their students. In the office they find Judy as secretary. Although she can type 140 words a minute, she still finds herself being rushed (mostly by the male teachers). They travel toward the darker side of the moon and find Sharon as a nurse to cratered children. She is doing well at her job and especially at flirting with the doctors, so they leave her to her duties. 19 Cheekily up on Joyce, they find that die is happily married and is a hair stylist. She is very’ good at cutting shags. As they step out of the beauty shop Brenda comes roaring up through the craters on her motorcycle and offers them a ride. She tells them that die has become a racer and takes them to Carol Wyman's wild life sanctuary. In case the life gets too wild she has Carol Dunckley, who has joined the WAVES, send over some of the men die has recruited to calm things down. They leave the wild life and motorcycles behind and visit Mable on her dieep ranch. There they also find Tim, a handsome cowboy, helping manage things. They do not stay long, though, as the police are investigating the case of a dead sheepherder found on her ranch. Next they find Evelyn in a remote comer. She has become a bum and makes a living selling ice cream with black olives. They hear that Sam has become a basketball coach and visit his camp. Although Sam tells them that his real desire was to become a professional dittoer, he seems content to show his team of three boys how to play a real game. Now it is Mr. Rea- gan who has to pull Mrs. Morgan away from the boys, and they move on to find Gor- don installing a telephone in a girls dormitory but he is too involved in his work to talk to them. Randal has become a computer programmer, and as most of his pro- grams include girls, he says that he finds life on the moon quite interesting. Last but not least they find Bryan running a jeep service for blondes, brunettes, and red- heads only. Although it sounds as though Bryan is very particular about his passen- gers, he actually does a lot of business. Satisfied that their students have not changed from being continually in trouble and seem to be happy, Mrs. Motgan and Mr. Reagan settle into their TWA seats and prepare for the long journey back home.
