What other two people give us all so much guidance and encouragement? What other two people make possible so much excitement and en- joyment? You both hold a unique place in the school and community. It is a unique place because of the kind of men you are. Yes, this dedication is our opportunity to say thank you for being you, and for being here with us. It also extends the hope that the spirit and success of the past year may continue. Yours sincerely, Class of 1968 ADMINISTRATION MRS. MILLER Secretary (7Kr. TKurp iij The future of our country depends upon our great- est natural resource, the young people of our society. The ideals and ideas they acquire before they leave school will set the future course for mankind. The schools must give an opportunity for this group to develop ideals and ideas that will be of the greatest benefit to mankind. The schools cannot give the ideals and ideas, they must be earned. MRS. BAIRD Secretary The school board and advisory council this year have worked toward bettering our school. They have spent countless hours in their deliberations. The students of Hayden High appreciate it very much and thank the school board and advisory council for your interest. As the season passed it became increasingly evident that this was going to be a year to remember. Of the nine games played this year by the Tigers only the Champions of the Gore-Yampa league and the Col- orado River Valley league beat us. Thanks to the efforts of the boys and the coaches, it was to be a season to bring pride to all who are members of Hayden High School. It was at Glennwood that this season ended, and it was a rousing victory for the Tigers. We of the annual staff extend our congratulations to Gordon Dowling, Chencho Salazar, Donald Bruchez, Robert Bruchez, Doug Scott, and Glenn Scott. All six of these boys were chosen to be on the All-Con- ference team. COACH HARRIS STATE QUALIFIERS STANDING - Manager Kent Steffen, Lee Fulton, Gordon Dowling, Tim Bertram. Hunger! Strain! Sweat! Determination! These words apply to the Hayden Wrestling squad which, although hampered by a lack of men in all the 11 weights, managed to put together an im- pressive individual record. The Tigers were led by such mem- bers as Myron Jeffcoat, the freshman who worked his way to state by winning a second in the district; and Chenco Salazar who was undefeated until the district tournament. The other boys are not to be neglected, for without them we would |not have had such a memorable season. As all but two of the wrestlers are underclassmen, the next few years should Ibe ones of continued success. RALPH BACKES WAYNE KITCHENS GLENN SCOTT MIKE BARNES MYRON JEFFCOAT 127 lbs. 4 0 165 lbs. Homecoming week began with a flurry of activity and the classes began to prepare their floats for the big parade. The classes were not the only ones to have floats in the parade. The family living class and the foot- ball players both entered floats. Senior Float - First Place Perhaps the family living class1 float was the most original. Mrs. Fulton suggested that it would be nice if the class would invite some Alumni football players to ride on the float. The players who rode on die float were Roy Dale Steffen and Dayton Dow- ling. The next group to decide to build a float was the football players. It wasn't until Thursday night after practice that the boys decided to build a float. The body of the float was the blocking sled. Butch Kitchens was the Homecoming Queen candidate chosen by the boys. Friday night was the big game with Granby. The Tigers won the game by 14 points. The queen candidates were Sylvia Ciani, Nancy White, Jo Ann Fox, and Terry Anderson. Sylvia was chosen Queen during the half-time ceremonies. The dance, sponsored by the Student Council, was a great success. The seniors decorated the gym, the juniors made the dummy, the sophomores decor- ated the goal posts, and the freshmen brought wood for the bonfire ...
