BAND The Haxtun Hlgh Qchool band lS composed of sivty S1X rembers and lS under the d1rect1on of Robert h Patterson The band had a serles of summer concerts whlch vere well re ceived b the publlc ard al o had band les ons durlng the summer They marched and played ai all of tle rome football games They d1d some outstandlng drlll On Hallowe'en, October 31, 1940, the band had thelr annual band carnival, and it was cuite successful They also had an un usual and well presented stunt night on Varch 28, 1941 The theme was 'Amerlca Thru The Years H The band gave concerts or December 3, 1940, and February 20 1941 They were fortunate ln havlng a large audience at both of these occaslons All students ln the band, who could, attended the festivals at Akron on Aprll 15, 1941, and at Sterllng on April 21 and 22 1941 Altogether the band had a ost successful year CPORUD Lucille Crlst Presldent Harrr Franson Vlce Presldent lrvlng Schachterle Secretary Treasurer The choir is also under the d1rect1on of Robert V Patterson and consists of forty four n m s The choir lS progresslng rap ldly but lt is handicapped due to the class schedule They gave two concerts on December 3, 1940 and February 20 1041, respectively A large crowd attended both On February 3, 1941, the choir enjoyed a progres ive supper Startlng the everlng, a fruit cocktail was served at the Patterson home The next course was candle salad whlch va served at the Crlst home The third and main course was served ln the audltor ium Thls conslsted of mashed potatoes, gravy, creamed beans, neat loaf, Jelly, and tea The flnal course ras ice crcar served at the Pond hone After the party, most of the chorus vent to the show, HBoom Town,N at the R1alto Theatre The choir also attended both the Akron and the Sterling fes tlvals . . . - 3, U 1 ' u . . . if 'o o .
