Dag cmd 6444 Week awed Old Hawaii came to life again in the colorful presentation given by the May Day cast of Hawaiian Mission Academy in the academy chapel The lovely queen, Evangeline Leialoha, attended by her retinue of stately maidens clad in the gorgeously colored robes representing the different islands, portrayed the modern Aloha'l meaning of Lei Daym through the beautiful symbols of a Royal Hawaiian court Preceded by two dainty flower girls, Queen Evangeline in white satin adorned by yards of crown flower leis gracefullx proceeded to her royal throne and knelt before thc roua seat to be crowned Queen cf May by Professor Elmer Herr Qld Hawaii. in the perscn of Rochelle Leialoha then ap peared before the Queen to honor her by reproducing pictured scenes from the meaning ful past of the Paradise of the Pacific Kamehameha himself, enacted by George Phillips. added his glory and charm to the occasion bx blending his voice with that of Queen Eyangeline in the haunting strains of Ke Kali Nei Au The background of lilting Hawaiian music lent an enchanting atmosphere vyhile the beautiful voice of lylrs Lillian Fonseca brought to us the sound of the surf at Waikiki the colcr and fragrance of the island flowers the beauty of the green clad slopes of l'-lgyygii s pgaks the silyer icyeiiness if Hone u a y-.hen t is batheg in moonzignt Eetftre us passed in review the racial groups in native Costume-those who have made Haiwaii the cosmopolitan crossroads that it is Lovely lncila hands drew a picture of the trade winds the waterfalls. the pathos and mystery that is Hawaii May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii L and the charm and beauty and fragrance were delightfully blended in a gorgeous prismatic whole
