This year's performance was Ronald Alexandens ' Time Out for Ginger. presented under the capable direc- tion of Mr. Edwin Vxlohnson. Stage settings were designed by student crews assisted by Niessrs. Alfred Lindberg and Frank Marshall. make-up was in charge of Nlrs. Edwin Y. johnson. Our play took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. How- ard Carol. for whose rather torn-boyish daughter Ginger the play was affectionately named. The Carols had two other daughters Joan, quite normal. and Jeanie, quite stage struck. Before the snow has completely disappeared from the stadium grounds each spring, Coach Felix Andrus has the Hillies baseball team on the field for spring training. The '55 team, predominantly ajunior nine, led by Cap- tain Mike Cortese, pulled through a rough season to win the Essex County Championshi . The outstanding pitch- ing of Don White, Gary Yacubacci, and Dave Eason, coupled with the powerful hitting ofjim Badolato, Mike Conway, and Joe D'Orazio made a well-balanced team and an almost unbeatable combination. ,Outstanding on the team record of victories was un- doubtedly the 5 to 3 upset handed the Lawrence Lancers. Itls close as Don White races for first. The Lawrence game, in addition to its element of surprise, brought out the professsional quality of the Hillies mounds- men. This professional quality was not apparent to the Haverhill fans alone, however. Professional scouts were also impressed by performances in the pitching, batting, and fielding departments. With a record marred by only two defeats, Haverhill copped the Essex County Championship for 1955. Prospects for the '56 season are bright. Most of the members of the '55 team will return--experienced veterans ready for fast action. D'Orazio crosses the platter for a run.
