WARREN ABNER SEAVEY Bussey Professor of Law In 1906 Professor Seavey organized the Law School of Pei Yang University, China. From 1912 to 1920 he served consecutively at Harvard and on the faculties of the Universities of Oklahoma, Tulane, and Indiana. He was president of the Association of American Law Schools, 19473 was co-reporter for the Rcstatements of Agency, judge- ments, Restitution and Tortsg is editor of the American Case Book Series and has compiled casebooks on Torts and Agency. He now teaches Agency, Restitution and Torts. Born: 1880 in Boston, Massachusetts. ROBERT AMORY, JR. Professor of Law Professor Amory spent two and one half years with the firm that is now Cahill, Gordon, Zachry and Reindel in New York City, specializing in corporate and anti-trust matters. His active military service began in January, 1941, as a private and took him through New Guinea, New Britain and most of the Philippines as a battalion and finally a regimental commander of amphibian engi- neers. For six months in 1946 he served as assistant treasurer of a textile mill and then joined the faculty of the Harvard Law School. Professor Amory tried his hand at politics this year, and was elected to the Cambridge School Board. He is now teaching Accounting and Cor- porations I. V Born: 1915 in Boston. ROBERT RICHARDSON BOWIE Professor of Law From 1934 to 1942 Professor Bowie practiced law in Baltimore. During that period he served as Assistant Attorney General for Mary- land for one year and also acted as Reporter to the Committee on Rules and Procedure, appointed by the Court of Appeals of Maryland. From 1942 to 1946 he served in the Army. For three years he was with the Procurement Legal Division in the War Department and then was Special Assistant to the Deputy Military Governor in Germany. This year Professor Bowie is teaching Government Regulations of Business and a Seminar on the Civil Aeronautics Board. Born: 1909 in Baltimore, Maryland. A.B., 1931, Princetong LL.B., 1934, Harvard. After his graduation, Professor Morgan practiced law in Duluth, Minnesota, until 1912 when he was appointed Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota. In 1917 he became Professor of Law at Yale and in 192 5 joined the Harvard Law School faculty. During World War I he served as Lieutenant-Colonel in the judge Advocate General's office. He was Acting Dean in 1936-37 and also from 1942 to 1945. From 1942 to 1944 he was Chairman of the War Shipping Panel of the War Labor Board. Since 1935 he has been a member of the United States Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules for Civil Procedure, and continues his public service, subject to approval by Congress, as Chair- man of the Commission to draft a Uniform Code of Military Justice. Professor Morgan was the reporter for the American Law Institute's Coda' of Eridenrv and is co-editor of Cases on Common Law Pleading and Cases on Eriflrnrc. He is editor of the University Casebook Series and author of Introduction to the Study of Law. He teaches Procedure and Evidence. Born: 1878 in Mineral Ridge, Ohio. EDMUND MORRIS MORGAN Royall Professor of Law MILTON KATZ Byrne Professor of Administrative Law Professor Katz was secretary to U. S. Circuit Judge Julian W. Mack from 1931 to 1932. During the next eight years he was with R.F.C., N.R.A., S.E.C., and the Attorney General's Office. He came to the Law School in 1939 and was appointed Byrne Professor of Administrative Law in 1948. During World War I1 Professor Katz was on leave of absence to serve with the government in Washington from 1941 to 1944. In 1944 he was commissioned Lieutenant Commander, USNR. He served in Europe with the O.S.S., and helped prepare the Eberstadt Report on unification of the armed forces. In 1946 he returned to Harvard but this year has again left to serve with the Economic Cooperation Administration in Paris. Born: 1907 in New York City. A.B., 1927, LL.B., 1931, Harvard. Page twenty AUSTIN WAKEMAN SCOTT Dane Professor of Law Professor Scott was appointed as an instructor in the Harvard Law School in 1909, and as an assistant Professor in 1910, after a year of practice in New York City. He was Acting Dean of the Law School from 1915 to 1916, and has held the Story and Dane Chairs. In 1928 Professor Scott was President of the Association of American Law Schools. He was reporter for the Restatements of Trusts and of Restitution fPart IU as well as co-reporter with Professor Seavey of the Restatement of judgements. He also drafted the Uniform- Fiduciaries Act, has edited casebooks on Trusts, Civil Procedure and Judicial Remedies, and is the author of various legal monographs. In 1939 he published his treatise on the law of Trusts. Professor Scott is now teaching Procedure and Trusts. Born: 1884 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. A.B., 1903, Rutgers, LL.B., 1909, Harvard.

ROBERT BRAUCHER Professor of Law From 1939 to 1941 Professor Braucher was engaged in the practice of law in New York City. In 1941 he joined the Army and served as a pilot in the Air Force and later with Military Intelligence. After his discharge he returned to Harvard. In 1948 and 1949 he served as consultant to the New York Law Revision Commission. This year Professor Braucher is teaching Commercial Law. Born: 1916 in New York City. A.B., 1936, Haverford College, LL.B., 1939, Harvard. ERNEST JOSEPH BROWN Professor of Law Professor Brown began the practice of law in Buffalo, N. Y., in 1931. After several years of general litigation work he devoted most of his time to tax and corporate matters. Beginning in 1937 he combined practice with teaching at the University of Buffalo Law School. From 1942 to 1945 Professor Brown was a Captain in the Office of Strategic Services. He came to the Law School in 1946 and is teaching Taxation and Constitutional Law. Born: 1906 at Lake Providence, Louisiana. A.B., 1927, Princeton, LL.B., 1931, Harvard. Page twenty-two ANDREW JAMES CASNER Professor of Law Before coming to the Harvard Faculty in 1938, Professor Casner served on the Law School faculties of the following Universities: Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Texas, and Leland Stanford. He was a Colonel in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945. Professor Casner participated both as a reporter and as an adviser in the preparation of the Restatement of Property. He was also Reporter for the Uniform Property Act and has contributed a number of articles in the property field to legal periodicals. He is co-editor with Professor Leach of a casebook for Property I. This year he is teaching Property I and Property II. Born: 1907 in Chicago, Illinois.
