BASKETBALL The Hartland hoopsters displayed a lot of talent this season, however, the odds just were not in their court. The Varsity ' s effort and dedication was often present during the first half, however, the situation changed as they approached the fourth quarter and their strategy fell apart. This hard working team should have won more games, several of them were close. Williamston was a prime example, as they lost by only one point. However, despite their record, we can give them credit for their two victories against Lake Fenton. The junior Varsity ' s record was similar to the varsity ' s but they won a few more games. The talent was there, but we just couldn ' t put it together, commented, captain, Phil Sandula. He further added, The cheering from the fans really helped and boosted our efforts. The Freshmen team, came out with the most victorious season. 1.26 999

Led by captains Sandy Smith and Bon- nie Kittle (The Twin Towers), the 1987 girls basketball team had a fairly success- ful season. Coached by Don Benham, the girls placed 4th in the KVC with a 5-5 record, and a 12-11 record over all. Beat- ing Pinckney 54-43, and taking first place in districts were not the only highlights of the season. The girls season was at a peak when Hartland ' s hungry archrivals, the Brighton Bulldogs, came to contend with the mighty Eagles. Prior to the game, the Dogs chanted KVC in the locker- oom, and pounded on the lockers. But as the game came to a close the Dogs be- came silent, as Hartland trounced upon them 55-46. 099
