The boys ' cross country team, coached by Mr. Eichler, did considerably well this year as they strove to be number one in the state. Their record was 8-0 in the dual meets and they won all six invitationals in which they competed. They tied with Lakeland for first in the league and went on to win regionals; attempting to capture a deserving state title. The Hartland Harriers came in 5th place at the state competition. Carl Wades, who was first in the league and in the region, took 4th place in the State and helped the team tremendously. The Harrier ' s team captains were Brent Dix, Jeff Lander and Carl Wades. All of the runners were very important, and all should be proud of the achievements they have made. The girls ' cross country team, also coached by Mr. Eichler did fairly well this season. They were 4-4 in the dual meets and tied for 5th in league and regional competition. The most valuable runner award was given to Tracy Buehler, a junior. Sandy Potter was also an important part of the team. She received all-region and all-league honors. Team captains were Buehler and Potter, and the head manager, Suzanne Adams, also dedicated much time to the team. Wrv

This year, the golf team was able to achieve the goal of winning the KVC title. When they first teed-off at the Pre-KVC meet, the season looked as if they were doomed to come in last place. They started off 1-4, but kept a positive attitude. The Hartland Golfers put together a most im- pressive ending to a rollercoaster season by stealing a first in the post-KVC tournament, and winning the KVC title after all.
