Here's a salute to our teachers who've worked hard, To strengthen us for all that lies ahead. We'll do our best throughout the years to use what we have learned, And try to do what's right for those with whom we are concerned. Here's a salute to the friendships we have made, Our memories of you will linger on. So we, the class of 1958, bid you adieu, lt's surely been a lot of fun to be with all of you. RICHARD ZUN K I could be better ifl would, but its mighty lonesome being good. Helm 4. 4 es llll if Claaa Hiatonq In September of 1946, forty-three little five and six year olds tripped off to school. We got our first taste of learning through reading the Dick and Jane books. We all remember how excited we were the night we gave our first operetta under the direction of Miss Burton. Jane Damschroder entered our school in the second grade. We all remember her coming because of the large birthday party she gave. As we entered our thrid year, our main goal in life was studying. During the fourth grade we entertained the fifth grade with a play entitled Tom Thumb's Wedding . 1 Up until the Fifth grade we were all one happy family. Now we found we must be divided into two groups. On that first day there were many sad expressions as best friends were parted. Our sixth year was most exciting because we got a day off from school to go to the W.S.P. D. television station and the zoo. When we reached the seventh grade, we thought we were about as grown-up as we could be, because we started changing classes just as the high school students did. This year we gave a Thanksgiving assembly. We also had a Christmas party complete with mistletoe. During our seventh and eight grade years we enjoyed the Seventh and Eighth Grade Part . ,After eight long years we were freshmen. We were happy to gain several new students from Benton Township. On Halloween, Terry Overmeyer gave us a very enjoyable Hal- loween party. Our assembly this year had the theme of a nightclub on television. When we became sophomores, our knowledge had seemed to reach its peak, but we still seemed to learn something new every day. We gave a dance after the Oak Harbor basketball game to raise money for the prom. Our junior year showed the talents of many students as we gave the play, Dollars and Nonsense on November 16. The biggest event of the year was the Junior-Senior Prom. We chose the theme of Fairyland Romance for our big night. At long last we were seniors. We looked back over the years and noticed that there were only 20 of the original members graduating with us. James Holland started school with us then transferred to Graytown, .but returned to Elmore to graduate. In the fall we had our pictures taken by Powell Studios. We received our pictures just before Christmas. We were sorry to lose Sharon Helmeci our senior year, but happy to have Leona Krumnow join. On April 25, we presented the senior play, The Red House Mystery . One of the highlights of our senior year was the Prom given for us by the juniors. The auditorium was beautifull transformed into a Japanese Tea Garden. Suddenly, as we neared graduation we realized how rapidl time had passed. On June 1, Baccalaureate Services were held. On June 4, we the class of 1958 marched down the aisles of the auditorium for the last time as a class. As we left the auditorium, we were individual young men and women. In witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our name and affixed our seal this twenty-sixth day of May, nineteen hundred and fifty-eight. Undersigned: The Class of i958 'T President: James Owen EQ i Q ni 31' 23 Claaa Puophecq Coming back to Elmore in the year T978 after being one of the first travelers to the planet Satunatus, I decided to look up the graduates of I958. Stepping out of the Galaxy 5-D-5 which, incidentally, was invented by JAMES OWEN from his collection of Model T Fords, the first scene to catch my eye is the brilliant neon sign advertising Bay-tonne. This is a now famous fashion center run by ALICE BAY, assisted by the wizard seamstress KATHERINE BARKHAU. Their gowns have been worn by some of the world's best dressed women, includ- ing socialite BARBARA DAMSCHRODER. Barb is still waiting patiently for JERRY KRUEGER to propose to her. Jerry is the only artist to have painted the Eiffel Tower at a straight angle. Cruising farther in the GaIaxy I am caught in a mad missile race which has been caused by MURRETTE NEWTON'S announcement of the sale of Ansh Girty-Girts. These girty-girts, which are girdles worn for outer space travel, were designed by TWYLA WHEATLEY, SHIRLEY DAMSCHRODER, and ANN NELSON. Another thriving business is the Juan-Kat-Laundromat run by JUANITA BARRON and KATHY MIRELES. They owe the success of their business to SUSAN SCHWEMBERGER and GRETCHEN MINNING'S discovery of Suegret's Nu-All Soap which renews clothes for a lifetime, not counting holidays and Sundays. BEVERLY FLICK has worked her way up to the top in Penney's and is now manager of all Penney stores in the area. Bev also recommends the Juan-Kat-Laundromat to all Penney customers for the clothes they buy there. Stopping at Wood's News Stand, operated by SUZAN NE WOOD, I notice on the front page a picture of one of the graduates of I958. I read on and find it is JOYCE MILLER being crowned by beauty contest iudge MELVIN GIESLER. Joyce has been named Miss Poise of I978. Entertainment for this affair was furnished by the Harmony Kats, RUSSELL FUR- STNAU, FRANCIS WIDMAN, and JAMES DRAEGER. Several of the i958 class members have gone to work for their government. LEONA KRUMNOW and ROSEMARY CROLL now head the United States Treasury Department. GARY Soco ANDERSON is the Ambassador to Russia although he has promoted much good will, his sense of humor bewildered the Russians so much that he started a revolt for Humorism instead of communism. JAMES KLICKMAN, really helps the farmers out, he is the new Secretary of Agriculture. DAVID HAAR is a Marine D. I. He was the first D, I, to allow Elvis haircuts in the service. Last but not least is the President of the United States, WARREN SCHLIEVERT. His calm disposition was the alluring point which won him the election. LOREN SAMPSON has taken over the place of Walter Winchell as news reporter over the nation. His secretary is JANE DAMSCHRODER, the only person who can write as fast as he can dictate. For a refreshment we stop at one of Daryl 's Quairy Deens. DARYL BOUCK'S ice cream especially features the cone with the Kurly-Kue at the bottom instead of the top. If you are interested in having a car specially made, you don't have to have it imported. JAMES HOLLAND designs the car of your dreams. The paint'job is left up to DENNIS HAAR. Their Carstum Car Custom Shop is a great success. For scratches or dents in their models, they recommend Em's Fix-It-Fender Shop operated by EMILY FONDESSY. SUE ARNDT and LOIS AVERS head the new IBM School in Elmore. Lois teaches the operation of the machines and Sue repairs them when they wear out. 24 If you are in the market for flowers, go to Draper and Zunk's Greenhouse. They offer a wide variety of new plants discovered by the owners DENNIS DRAPER and RICHARD ZUNK. Two more of the members of the class have gone into the entertainment world. GALEN LEMKE is the new sensational star of stage, screen, TV, and outer space. JAMES MAGSIG ' heads the Philadelphia Philharmonic Symphony Crchestra. DON LAUER has become one of the world's renowned travelers. He has been nicknamed Lowell Thomas the II. Along with him has gone BETH BRANDES. Beth was the first psychiatrist to interview a head hunter in the wilds of South Africa. The graduates of the class of I958 have done well for themselves so l, the spirit of the class of l958, salute them and leave them now to continue in their paths of success.
