CLASS HI Tlllll at 4, Qrfgiamsgf W We the class of 1956 turn back our thoughts to our f1rst school days when we entered the flrst grade wlth ll glrls and 27 boys The flrst few years we learned to pr1nt count and tell txme Whlle we were In the thlrd rade our early talent for muslc was beglnnlng to show e jomed the fourth grade 1n havm a kltchen orchestra Some of the mstruments were bazoo as egg beaters and last but not least a b1g kettle for a drum The fourth flfth and smxth grades were spent learnlng to perfect the three R's Durmg the s1xth year of school We v1S 1ted the c1ty waterworks The next year we entered Jumor I-hgh School Chang1ng classes was an exc1t1ng new exper1ence for us In the seventh grade we had a Halloween party complete w1th a ghost walk 1n Lester Lemke's barn In the e1ghth rade the class enjoyed a Halloween party at V1rg1n1a Myer's ouse In the sprlng Betty Kalser had a party for the class Flnally we cl1mbed to the mnth rung of the ladder Thls year we galned seven new members four of wh1ch were from Benton Townsh1p As Freshmen we sponsored a dance after a basketball game Also thls year we had a Chrxstmas ex change party In February we had our freshman assembly As sophomores we had eleven members on the football team three boys on the reserve basketball squad twelve out for track and n1ne members ln the band On Aprll flrst we In our Jumor year we gave our play Clement1ne 1 November 9 On December 28 we sponsored a dance after the Elmore Glbsonburg basketball game Aga1n thzs year we gave our assembly Aprll flrst The blggest event of the year came on May 14 as the .Tumor class sponsored the Junlor Sen1or Banquet and Prom of wh1ch the theme was Moonllght and Roses At last we reached the flnal steps ln our hlgh school llfe we were semors We had our senxor p1ctures taken m October In Aprxl we gave our semor play Hot Water under the d1rect1on of Mrs Dora Coleman Another Job of the year was workxng on the I-IELM and gettmg It ready for publ1cat1on All the members of the class had the opportun1ty to work on the yearbook Many hours of planmng and organ 1zat1on were spent 1n the mak1n of a good I-IELM The latter part of the year we were busy p annmg for baccalaureate and commencement On May 12 we were honored by the Jumors wxth a prom of whlch the theme was Neptune's Garden Baccalaureate was held May 20 and Commencement was May Z5 Our semor year proved to be a thr1ll1ng experlence for us can ' '43 7-22. if L 3' A A in 33'?Wb 10 4-' mf 'f xxx 'L 1 Q was g S gf fm-1 5 Y - Q 1, 4 2 l I-i 3 x N M' xi Q.
