SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY
Dear Mrs Bunch
So many thrngs have happened rn the
passing years to my class srnce we gradu
ated from Harriman Hrgh I thought perhaps
you mrght like to know about some of them
In my extensive travels as a saleswoman
for Drakes Fake Bake Corporation owned
by that successful businessman Arnold
Drake I have run across many of my old
classmates
While on a busrness trip to the New
England states I found Buddy Adkrsson was
a successful farmer He and hrs wrfe Shelby
Colllns had settled down on their farm to
ra1se lrttle Adkrssons The famrly on the
farm next to theirs was Mr and Mrs Irrn
Lee They too were dorng quite Well with
their crop Mrs Lee Clra Lee Brnghaml was
havrng aurte a time tryrng to keep all the
lrttle Lees from becomrng hot rod drrvers
lrke their Dad
Whrle rn thrs prosperous section of our
great land I traveled to the metropolrs of
New York where Mason Goodman was the
newly elected Mayor Hrs handy man and
chref flunky Bo Roberts was dorng quite
well helping hrm run the crty Curtrs Iones
Stanly lenkrns was hrs chref assrstant Therr
frrst case had been the trrangle love affarr
and surcrde of Lucy Cuffman It seems her
surtors lack Prophater and Howard West
moreland Just weren t qurte tall enough and
Lucy had come to wrts end about how to get
any shorter so she ended rt all She married
the Homrcrde Chief That was surcrde I I
On a srde street rn this large c1ty I
found a drnky lrttle hat shop run by Iulranne
Fitzgerald Her old school chum Wanda
Melton was her chief sales clerk and Frerda
Matney and Barbara Farrchrld were her
models She had employed Carlton Grady
as her chauffeur and chref advrsor It seems
the old gang had stuck together very well
That nrght I checked rnto a hotel where
lane Baker was desk clerk She rang for a
bell hop to carry my luggage and rt was
none other than Ierry Hood We went up
to the seventh floor on the elevator run by
Opal Ray After changrng clothes I went
out for drnner at one of the large nrght spots
rn the town where I found Reba Sexton as
the hat-check grrl and Brllre Pogue as the
cigarette grrl The head walter started to
14
show me to my table when I suddenly
realrzed that he too was a school mate of
mine It was Grady Langley He summoned
Tommy Barnett to take my order and we
chatted awhile and he told me that many
of our schoolmates were workrng there
Grady Bennett played organ drnner rnusrc
before the floor show The first act of the
show was a few songs by that songbrrd of
54 Nancy Lou Coward It seems she never
did get that offer from the Met After her
act followed the Two Dots and A Dash
who else could this be but Cherre Lee
Wright Patsy Gardner and Carolyn Car
mack They had marrred prosperous Oak
dale coal mrners and were quite happy rn
marrred lrf l spent a few hours Just remr
nrscrng with all of them and then went back
to mv hotel room
The next morning bright and early I was
on my door to door route and found Stanley
Hendrlckson delrverrng mrlk on the same
route He was strll a bachelor He could sell
products such as candy and milk but he
Just couldn t sell Mary Lou King that specral
girl on hrs good looks
When I knocked on the first door a lrttle
boy wrth a slrde rule rn his hand opened
rt I asked the chrld rf hrs mother was there
and luckrly for me she was because he
began askrng questions I knew nothing
about Gracrous what a chrld prodrgyl Hrs
mother I was shocked to find was Betty
Borum I knew rrght away he had not rn
herrted hrs rntellrgence from hrs mother
She told me all about herself and her famrly
of fourteen whrch had arrived srnce she had
frnrshed school She had married Don Evans
noted mathematrcran and football coach at
Vassar College He had found the players
were not aurte as rough there One of hrs
fellow teachers at the college was Alice
Ann Suddath She had trred to get Mr
Haun s Job but couldnt so she decrded to
show them she could do better than that
She was now Dean of Students and her
brggest problem was Pat Barley who was
simply besrde herself because of the lack
of male attentron Pats roommate Patsy Lee
Burns had grown trred of wartrng alone for
her boyfrrend so she started a Wfmm Club
tWart For My Manl Now she waited with
Laura Grrzzard Sara Wrllrams Sue Carson
and Anne DArmond who were also wart
rng I told Betty I had to be ruunnrng along
