Senior History
For the past twelve years, the graduates 'of '56 have Worked With others
to prove their ability to cooperate. They have served their community,
including schools, as Well as themselves. They deserve the title, seniors.
Years at Whitney have been difficult but fun. Each student has had re-
sponsibilities in different activities.
In the sophomore year, every girl looked forward to her future at Whit-
ney. She began to establish herself and become acquainted with the faculty.
Mrs. Marilyn Fleming Stimpfle became a member of the faculty that year.
Sophomores sponsored the Hobo Hop which everyone enjoyed. Shop meet-
ings were held at Macomberg this helped girls develop poise and leadership.
Of course, everyone participated in the annual Christmas party. Other new
experiences for the underclassmen included Whitney Day, campaigning for
next year's Junior Class officers. Yes, the first year at Whitney proved to .
be exciting.
When the girls returned in September, 1954, they
had another busy year ahead. Many began Working
after school preparing for their co-op jobs as seniors.
The treasury needed replenishing so the group spon-
sored a candy sale. The success of J unior-Senior Day
created a feeling of achievement. Student Council
gave a dance, the Cornstalk Shuffle. The prom com-
mittee Was busily arranging for the big dance which

and Silhouettes, held May 7,, 1955, proved a big
success.
A senior is more reliable than ever before. Other
students look to them as examples. The majority
began co-op jobs. Plans for the senior trip and prom
Were formulated. Shops sponsored employer's lun-
cheons. Senior forums proved a very interesting and
beneficial feature. Commencement day brings tense
excitement to each girl. When she receives her dip-
loma, she realizes so much more the feeling of real
love and that each day at Whitney was Well spent.
