IUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS A . ii -as-i 19 ff' ea Ngjygi Senger, Barbara-President, Schutt, Nancy-Vice President, Filas, Delphine-Secretaryp Burden, Doris-Treasurerg Wagner, Mary-Sgt. at Arms. ln the junior year, girls feel that they are part of Whitney. By this time they have become accustomed to her traditions. Instead of sophomore orientation, juniors have a series of shop demon- strations. The purpose of these meetings is to showi the girls what fellow students learn in other trades. Each shop sponsors one meeting in which they demonstrate how they spend their days at school. This helps to ac- quaint the girls with the other girls in different shops, ordinarily they are in class with the same group each hour of every day. junior officers are elected at the close of the sophomore year. In addition to officers, each shop has a representative present at each meeting. They plan the school year in the same manner as the council. Each class also has a mother's luncheon at which they are hostesses to their mothers in the tearoom. The social event of the junior year is the prom. Previously the juniors have sponsored their own dance in the school gym. Each shop selected a candidate for queen, who was chosen at the prom by pinning each girl's name to a rose, then having Mr. Quaintance select one. The girl's name on the flower he chose reigned as queen. This year it was decided to hold a junior, senior party. By combining the proms, a better orchestra could be hired. juniors look forward to junior-senior day. The junior class plans some entertainment for the seniors at this time. Last year it was an aqua show at the Y.W.C.A. Each junior escorts a senior to the program. Highlight of the year is receiving class rings, That is a long anticipated event for every student.
