Vocational education for girls in Toledo has had no more faithful
advocate than our former instructor, Mrs. Ruth A. Hartnett.
Even though she has left our midst, there is "some portion of our
hearts forever dedicated to her."
Mrs. Hartnett was born in Hudson, Michigan, November 12, 1891
where she received her preliminary education at Hudson High School.
Majoring in commercial subjects at Cleary's College in Ypsilanti, Mich-
igan, she later studied for her degree at Boulder and Columbia Univer-
sities.
1
Her first experience was in her home town where she taught
commercial subjects at her alma mater. Other positions took her as far
from Hudson as Marshfield, Oregon.
Teaching in 'Doledo -for the past eighteen years, she was one of a
small group who made a school like Whitney possible. To you, Ruth
Hartnett, our deepest love and admiration in dedicating the First Lady
of 1943.
