Tall ones short ones, fat ones, thin ones, boys interested in sports , 3 and girls interested in art, gay and serious students, students who like ' chemistry and those who like Latin . . . S students and G students, happy students and . . . but we have no sad students at Harper . . . you - , , 1.. f see them here and through the following pages. These are the peop t or whom the Harper Shield was created, and from these ,students came the staff which enjoyed the opportunity of compiling this book. Rosalie Fallon was editor-in-chief, while copy was written by Donna West and Camilla Schlaffer under the dignified title of literary co-editors. We turn the pages and come across the work of Kay Dwyer and Delores Knop in the senior section. f h ' umerable activities at The club section, reflecting some o t e mn Harper, was edited by Alverne Jeske. Dorothy Turrell and Bob Freund were the editors of the boys' and girls' sports. This section contains a record of Harper's athletic activities. Any student in Harper may be pictured in our annual in the division room section under Esther Johnson's supervision. An annual needs art to make it, and June Specht and June Bisch, Jane Specht, Freeman Elliot, and Betty Lantry created the division pages. Ruth Gosselin designed the cover, Glenn Hoefler drew the cartoons, and Glenn and Adelia Belskis designed the end paper. Mrs. McCurry was in charge of the art staff, Mr. Kimpton directed the business staff and Mr. Silverman supervised the editorial group. '

X In September, 1933, Artbur Deaver came to tbe newly organized Harper H igb Scbool. Because it was Mr. Deaver wbo came, by September, 1934, Harper was an ejfficient, smootbly running scbool. Tbe work of tbat year, tbe struggle to organize, tbe need to sootbe students and teacbers, tbe fact tbat inside a year Harper was a place tbat boys and girls liked to attend are all parts of a story in wbicb tbe central cbaracter is Artbur Deaverg His friendliness, bis sympatby, bis bumor . . . we don't need to tell our readers about tbose qualities. Everyone wbo bas ever entered Harper bas caugbt so1ne of tbe atmospbere be created. - f Tbe words wbicb were inadequate to describe Mr. Deaver's stay at Harper are not able to express our .emotions on bis retirement. Sorrow on bis leaving, ba p piness tbat be spent pve and a balf years bere, memories, experiences, contacts, all blend togetber to give eacb of us tbe feeling tbat in knowing Mr. Deaver we knew a rare and unique personality. Ratber tban use fumbling words to tell wbat we mean, we tbougbt we would sbow you. In tbe following two pages our camera bas snapped Mr. Deaver in some of bis scbool activities.
