The replaceinent of a school's first citizen is an event of first rate importance to that school. Therefore, in january when we heard that our new principal was to he Mr. Harry Yates we practically exploded with curiosity. XVhat was he like? What were his ideas? Was he light or dark? Was he tall or short, young or old? Suddenly these questions hecaine trivial. Mr. Yates carne to Harper and we realized that here was a inan we liked. We found hiin to he a cal1n rnan, a patient, thorough rnan, with a deep interest in and affection for hoys and girls. ' ' We are not surprised that in the hrief time Mr. Yates has heen at Harper he has hecorne a vital part of the school. The principal of a school is always ivnportant, hut a principal with Mr. Yates' qualities and 'ideas soon hecoines a directing influence that extends to every activity in the school. That Harper continues to he a place that hoys and girls like to attend is due in great 1neasure to our new principal. In short, we are very glad that Mr. Yates caine here. In order to show why, in order to let you see why we consider ourselves fortunate to have Mr. Yates, we have arranged the following two pages to show hi1n engaged in typical activities around the school.
