To accurately re- produce the events of that cruise has been a great challenge to us. In this book you have seen a sampling of what took place in that deployment. It would be impossible to repro- duce the agony, the depression, or the festivity and satisfac- tion experienced by every member of the crew. However, it is the sincere desire of the Cruise Book staff that the art sketch- es, the photographs, and the articles will reveal some emo- tion to those who sailed and to those who waited at home. The staff would like to thank those crew members who kindly contributed their photographs for publication. A big thank-you goes to OSSN S. Clincy who gave many of his free hours to the book even though he was not on the cruise. The Harold E. Holt did not sail to set records but to do our best and THAT WE DID!!!!!
