Weniger, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Weniger of Wahpeton, North Dakota, was born and raised in the mid- west, attending high school at St. John's Prep School, Collegeville, Minnesota. He enlisted in the Navy in I958 and was trained and served as an Aviation Electronics Technician before ac- ceptance into the Naval Enlisted Scientific Edu- cation Program, subsequently graduating from the University of Idaho in l963 with a degree in electrical engineering. He has attended the Naval Destroyer School and the Armed Forces Staff College and holds a Master's degree and an Engineer's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Post- graduate School. Commander Weniger as- sumed command of USS Harold E. Holt on 2l August l982. Commander Weniger is married to the for- mer Christine Hajost of Detroit, Michigan.
