LIL About The Hamid E. Holt Insignia ., g , l . The principle theme of Harold E. HoIt's insignia is to denote the unity that exists between the nations of Australia and the United States. This was accomplished by using, with their kind per- mission, the coat of arms of the Australian state of Victoria emblazoned on the breast of an Ameri- can Eagle. The coat of arms of Victoria was chosen be- l cause it depicts the southern cross constellation, which is also symbolized on the Australian nation- al ensign, and Victoria is the state where the late Prime Minister Holt lived throughout most of his life and represented in the National Parliament. The two crossed tridents in the grasp of the eagle symbolize sea power. The anchor is an an- cient nautical symbol. H RO LD E. H O LT 1 The Right Honorable Harold Edward Holt, for- mer Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, was born in Sydney, Australia on Au- gust 5, l908. On January 20, l966 Mr. Holt was A lx elected Liberal Party Leader and named Prime y V 7 Minister, a post he held until his disappearance T E f while skin diving on December I7, l967. ltil l fY?5I.'
