The B' squad was small in numbers this year, but made up for this with experience, having 10 sophomores on the squad. Their defense dominated most teams on their calendar allowing only 30 points in 7 games, but they faltered when they were beaten by a tough Leroy 'B' squad 23-0. The Freshmen also contributed to the success of the 'B' squad by adding depth to the team's offensive and defensive positions, continued success is expected from these youths in years to come. The offense was in high-gear during the season, racking up 202 points, while their stingy defense only allowed 76 points scored against them. The team's only loss was a close one to Grand Meadow, 16-18. The C squad was led by the 8th graders, who were helped by the 7th graders whenever possible. Congratulations to the 'C' team. The 'B' squad Volleyball team ended with a winning season, their final record was 7 wins and 6 loses. Coach Montgomery gave an equal chance of playing for all 23 girls, letting them all take part in the vic-torys and also the defeats. The team as led by 2 juniors, Kaiya Rahm and Kim Vagts who pulled the team through the tough games and fired them up. Also, 10 sophomores and 10 freshmen added to this winning squad. They started out on 'B' squad and soon after practice had started they formed a 'C' squad because of the 17 seventh and eighth graders. Their coach at that time was Tom Canterbury. He was also coach of the boys 'C' squad. They had trouble with the number of practices that should have been scheduled but weren't. Coach Canterbury left on Dec. 21, Jim Taubert took over. Their record was 0-3 at that time. They participated in a tournament in Grand Meadow and both squads took 4th place. They kept their spirit up and won a game against Mabel-Canton. On Feb. 4th Harmony held a tournament and the eighth grade took 2nd and the seventh grade took 4th. They now have a overall record of 2-9 with one game left to go. 8th Graders: 1st Row: Amy Elston, 2nd Row: Shannon McCabe, Lynda Brunsvold, 3rd Row: Kathy Hutton, Heather Kiehne, Amy Spieker 37 1st Row: Jamie Hellem, Scott Mandelko, Tim Burkholder, Bob Casterton, Scott Hendrickson, 2nd Row: Coach Elston, Matt Jarland, Jeff Casterton, Mike Giralomo, Don Wead, Paul McKernan, Brian Funke, Kevin Sikkink The 1983-1984 boys basketball team consists of 3 Seniors, 7 Juniors and 2 Sophomores. The Cardinals participated in 3 tough tournaments and did very well taking 7 first places, 9 second places, 4 third places and 4 fourth places respectively. Overall the team had an excellent and fun season ending with a 12-1 record. 43 1st Row: Leanne Thomas, Andrea Wilt, Susie Alfson, Andrea Hutton, Beth Rueter, Linda Young, 2nd Row: Coach Sandy Scrabeck, Mary Johnson, Julie Runkel, Sarah Overby, Tara Willford, Terisa Kiehne, Margie Webster, Amy VanHoof, Coach Dutcher, 3rd Row: Leann Mensink, Teresa Jacobson, Stacy Taubert, Dawn Evenson, Nancy Griffin This year's gymnastics team was led by two seniors: Mary Johnson and Amy VanHoof. Other than the seniors, the team consisted of Juniors: Teresa Jacobson and Stacy Taubert, Sophomores: Dawn Evenson, Suzie Alfson, and Tara Willford and Freshmen Andrea Hutton. The team is small this year, but at the time of this writing, the girls are looking very strong. They lost two close ones to Caledonia and Chatfield, who have been the top two teams in the region for several years. The girls are very positive about the rest of the season, and are hoping to win the sub-region title. Their strong points are again the beam and floor with the vault rating right up there. Their weakness, the bars, have come a long way this year, as Coach Dutcher has been working her girls hard. The gymnasts think they can wipe out Caledonia and Chatfield to advance to State as a team. It's their last chance, as this is the last year for gymnastics in Harmony. 44 Seniors: Amy VanHoof and Mary Johnson 45 'B' Girls Basketball Stats- Sondra Elton and Michele Erickson 'A' Boys Basketball Stats- Karen Hanlon and Barb Brunsvold 'B' Boys Basketball Stats- Sharon Hanlon and Julie Engle A' Girls Basketball Stats- Kathy Jacobson, Shelley Twait, and Kris Ling-beck 'A' Wrestling Stats- Michele Soma and Mel Miller 1st Row: James Hellem, 2nd Row, 1 to r: Tim Burkholder, Terry Kraling, Kevin Sikkink, John Dennstedt, Kendall Bigalk, Bob Casterton, Tom Widmar, Alfonso Garcia, 3rd Row: Coach Canterbury, Scott Taubert, Phil Ryan, Glenn Ivers, Todd Hendrickson, Jeff Twait, Assistant Coach-Bob Hanson HARMONY VS. The plan backfires when the mens' wives' Sue (Mel Miller) and Lucille (Cherrie Brink) find out about the girls and leave the men. Meanwhile, Jimmy's neice, Nanette (Tori Austin) falls in love with Billy's nephew, Tom (Dana Ewalt). Soon total chaos results. Members are chosen according to grade point average. Students eligible for NHS must attain a g.p.a. of 3.0 or higher. The students eligible for this honor are given an essay questionairre where they answer questions pertaining to scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Teachers who have been on the faculty for four years or more select the NHS members. National Honor Society sponsors a Student of the Quarter during the first three quarters of the school year. A senior is elected during the first nine weeks. A junior the second, and a sophomore the third nine weeks. Each student must be on the honor roll for the quarter. NHS members are not eligible. The student must demonstrate qualities that the National Honor Society stands for: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Teachers rate the eligible students on the basis of 1-10. The NHS vote on the top four ranked students to determine who will be the Student of the Quarter for the nine weeks. Each Student of the Quarter is given special recognition. This year the National Honor Society has been working in the concession stand to raise money for a formal banquet which will be held on April 24th. All NHS members, their parents. This majority, however, did not affect the overall success which we feel we had in creating this year's yearbook. Mone was a nessecity which this year's Annual Stafl could not do without. Some of the money-raising events which the Annual Staff handled were: Candy-sales, working at concession stands at sporting events, and selling yearbooks. Organization of time, money, and supplies, all played a part in the creation of the '83-'84 yearbook. We, the Editors, also wish tc thank our advisor Roger Buchholz, whose keen sense of organization gave us that extra little something that made this yearbook not just good but great . — ' •  t t ’ «j 4V v- • 2 « ‘ « • ' •' ’V■••• •..% , v . - - .w ... v -■. ..• V. ; ... w . . r - -i v . . . v.:%; -V.
