I dig out my year book, now yellow with age, And open it up to the very last page. As I stare at your writing, so perfect and neat, My eyes close so slowly as memories repeat. My heart now is aching, my eyes the tears shed. As I read what you wrote, as I hear what you said. To a good sweet friend, who is very dear. We shared each smile, and we shared each tear; May our friendship outlast those untrue, which soon end. Until death, shall our friendship endure, my friend. Trembling, I think of the night before-It happened so quickly, there was no way to know-I hope it was painless, but I still hear you singing, To a good, sweet friend, who is very dear, we shared each smile, and we shared each tear. Many classes readied their float for the parade on Friday. Thursday evening was coronation of our king and queen. Bob Love spoke on how Homecoming used to be. Last year's king and queen, Mike Austin and Sandy Morem, crowned our present and reigning king and queen. They are Kevin Prinsen and Suzanne Cremer. Following the coronation there was a snake dance to the water tower where a pep rally was held. Poor weather on Friday, Sept. 30, didn't dampen anyone's spirits. The parade was cancelled, but we were fired up for the football game against Chatfield. The final score was 27-2. Following the victory was a dance with the band. Pizzazz. But Harmony's hopes faltered as Wykoff won the coin flip to advance to the District playoff with Rushford. 27 A Squad—First row: R. Hovey, Dave Barrett, S. Fishbaugher, B. Elton, J. Morgan, D. Performances were held on November 4 and 5. The play centered around an old western, picturesque, little town, Gopher Gulch. Now in Gopher Gulch everything seemed to go along just fine except for one person. Sneaky Fitch. Sneaky was the town bum and also the most despised person in the whole town. But thanks to a practical joke by Doc Burch, Sneaky died and came back to life again. With all of the townspeople scared of him, Sneaky took advantage of the situation and became mayor and sheriff of Gopher Gulch. Worst came to worst as Doc Burch returned to Gopher Gulch and told of his joke, which led to Sneaky's final death. Good acting and hard work by the crew helped this play to become a big success. A special thanks is given to all those involved. 38 WINTER I LOVE YOU IN THE WINTERTIME WHEN FROST IS IN THE AIR AND THE WORLD BECOMES A WONDERLAND OF HAPPINESS TO SHARE. With only two returning lettermen the Cards started slowly, as poor shooting and numerous turnovers plagued them over the first half of the season. But as the year went on the team showed a great deal of improvement. Their tough defense caused many turnovers. The Cards proved they could play with anyone in the district. This was evident in the season final. Harmony battled conference champion Preston before a full house only to bow by two points. Harmony drew one of the tallest teams in the district for tournaments. The game was rugged throughout despite poor shooting by Harmony. Even though La Crescent won, the game was closer than the final score indicated. 43 JAMIE BOB RANDY BILL TERRY Stat—Jon Jaeb Manager—John Flatten KEITH MARK B SQUAD—Coach Doug Carlson, Shawn Tornow, Bill Erickson, Gary Prinsen, Mike McKay, Joe Jaeb, Gordon Hanson, Wayne Johnson, Mark Fishbaugher, Tony Schroeder, Jerry Berge, Scott Brunsvold, Kevin Elton, 1st Row-Brad Boice, Joe Mudfrom, Kerry Kingsley, Robbie Run-kel, Randy Harmon. We put a lot of effort into it and hope that you have as much fun reading it as we did creating it. Editor—Mark Matson, Advisor—Roger Buchholz, Editor—Rachel Harstad, Jr. Editor—Jon Jaeb. CARDEON EDITORS We had kind of a slow start on the Cardeon this year, with little experience back from last year. Seven issues were put out being Homecoming, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines, Easter, and April Fools. We all put a lot of hard work into all the issues, and we hope everyone enjoyed them. We would like to give a special thanks to Miss Mussolf. Since the membership was up this year we took on a fund raising activity to help Camp Courage. We have also helped out many groups in the area at banquets. We had secret pals this year again, which we revealed at our Christmas party. One of the biggest events was the district convention. After many weeks of preparation it turned out to be a memorable day. Ruth Whalen received the honor of district Sec.-Treas. We would like to thank our advisor, Mrs. Ofstedal, and all the people who supported the F.H.A. in any way.
