Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1971 volume:

THE CARDINAL Time and distance will soon separate the class of 1971 from the brick building on Main Street. The solidity of this building and the school life it represents will alter and become memories, some remaining vivid, others becoming faded. We hope that our Cardinal will help capture the people and events of our senior year to give substance to our memories. 1 TABLE THE CARDINAL STAFF: Row 1: JoAnn Vagts, Diane Richards, Kandis Scheevel, Polly Sikkink. READING MISS SPOERL Maybe the meek really will inherit the earth; they won’t have the nerve to refuse. ENGLISH MRS. HAUDER There are two ways to slide easily through life: to believe everything or to doubt everything. Both ways save us from thinking. ENCLISH, LIBRARIAN MR. TARRAS The trouble with a problem is that it always starts out just like fun. MATH, ALGEBRA V MRS. ARNS Lazy students always work harder than anyone else: they’re so eager to get through and lie down again. ENGLISH MRS. RHODES It often shows a fine command of language to say nothing. ENGLISH x MR. RUNKEL Science has been taking great strides forward. Now its only fifty years behind the comic books. SCIENCE, GEOMETRY, PHYSICS X MR. RHODES The world really isn't any worse. It’s just that the news coverage is so much better. BOYS PHY ED, HEALTH, PSYCHOLOGY v MR. ELSTON Bees, biologically, are not as busy as we think they are. They just can’t buzz any slower.
