Mary Miller. Stand-Thorson. Mr. Houdek, advisor. The twelve-member body Student Council under the excellent guidance of their advisors, Mr. Houdek and Mr. Meule-mans, accomplished a great deal for the benefit of the student body this year. These achievements dealt with major adjustments as well as solutions for many insignificant problems brought before them. The successful year of the school's governing body began with the revision and distribution of the student handbook. Providing each member of the student body with a copy of the handbook was an important change from previous years when only new students received a copy. The Council again supported the annual magazine drive which was sponsored by grades seven, eight, and nine. Proceeds from the drive went to the band uniform, Cardinal, and stage curtain funds. Their only money-raising project of the year was the sponsorship of the Christmas Party on December 19. A new system was devised for honoring outstanding students when the Student Council adopted a plan for a Boy and Girl of the Month Club. The selected students received a Certificate of Honor stating the qualifications for which they were chosen. The Student Council would like to thank the student body for their loyalty and active co-operation. Student ( ouncct O ice Left to right, seated: Jed Thorson. vice-president; Mary Miller, president. On November 2 and 3 the Junior presented a very successful class play entitled, Leave it to Miss Gardner. Leave It to Miss Gardner was a hilarious comedy centering around the everyday lives and problems in an average high school, Pembroke High. The trouble begins when Jane Gardner, a young college graduate, comes to share the guidance office with the men's guidance counselor, and confirmed bachelor, Mr. Gordon Warren.
