The halls of Harmony High School have been brightened by you, Erna, our Finnish foreign student. The school and community have enjoyed having you participate in our school, civic, and church activities. We hope this yearbook will bring back fond and cherished memories of your year in Harmony. You have brought about an exchange of friendship and culture between our nations which has furthered the cause of world understanding. Our dearest hope is that you will return to us some day for a visit and that your year in the United States will be one you will enjoy recalling often throughout a long, happy, and useful life in Finland. Under the efficient guidance of our principal. Mr. Houdek. and with the fine leadership of our president. Tom Brokken, the Student Council gave effective leadership to the student body. The council had the pleasure of having as an honorary member, Frna Carlson, our foreign exchange student from Finland. The first activity of the year was the distributing of the revised Student Handbook to the new students in our high school. Our next big activity was the magazine drive. More money was taken in this year than in any previous year. The money was used to buy stage curtains. The council participated in the Homecoming festivities by entering a float in the parade. We decorated the halls and sponsored the Christmas party in celebration of the Yuletide season. A few other projects were the purchase and sale of new book covers 25 bearing the school name; the mascot, which appeared at the athletic events; the new flag on the stage; the high school elections; and fund-raising for the foreign student.
