One September twelve years ago fwe of us Semors found ourselves mn
the same room We were begmmng school We had no mdea we would ever go
through school wlth each other These frve pup1ls were Wmston Germann
Herbert Walters Buster Word Gwendolyn Daws and Patsy Wmlhamson Some
of the others have been w1th us about eleven years They are George Charles
Spells and Elxzabeth Harley
When we were m the slxth grade Ehzabeth and George Charles returned
and W1ll1am George came also
ln the seventh grade B1l11e Fay Tatom and Bmlly Lane came here
When we were xn the elghth grade we gamed one new pupml Joyce Larkms
Our mnth year we were all new at golng from room to room and havxng
dlfferent teachers We were rather green at the fmrst of school but we got better
We all enjoyed thls very much When we were ln the mnth grade some of our
class nl yed basketball on the jumor g1r1s team W1l11e jean was the only g1rl
that played ball more than one year Some of the boys played jumor ball but none
of them but Buster played more than one year
Our tenth year we could get around a lmttle better We gave a three act
comedy play thms year The name of xt was H1llb11ly Courtshxp We thought
we d1d very well smce thms was the fmrst play of thls type we had glven We got
a few comphments too oyce and Wxllxe jean were our basketball players thms
Our eleventh year of school was a lxttle bus1er and we enjoyed 1t a l1ttle
better than the last one Th1s year we gave two plays The fmrst one was
Wanted A Hero and the last one was Damsela In Drstress Both plays were
a success and we enjoyed g1v1ng both of them We gave a banquet mn honor of the
Semor Class on February the eleventh Our theme was Valentlne and we
decorated w1th red and whxte Everyone enjoyed plannmng for the banquet and we
enjoyed It as well Our basketball stars are Marg1e Joyce Oulda Booth and
W1ll1e Jean who got on all county team
Our Semor Year has been an excmtmgly busy one We elected offmcers

Gras season All of us enjoyed It xmmensely and It was a great experxence We
have gamed only one new student th1s year Bobble Nell Ray and lost four One
of them had been a part of our class for fwe years W11l1am George
B1l11e Fay Tatom was our cand1date for the queen s contest of the Halloween
carmval We accompllshed our goal by wmnmg the race and she was crowned
queen ofthe carmval by our sponsor Mrs H D Maloch Her escort was George

When school opened thms year everyone was ready' We all dmscussed the
summer events and began the busiest year of our school career up to now
We were sorry to have lost several of our former pals but 1n thelr place
were some new ones who have proven to be the mcest classmates anyone could
There are erghteen members mn our class thms year elght g1rls and ten
boys several who started here 1n the f1rst grade are stmll hanglng around
We held a meetmg the flrst week of school and elected offlcers for the year

Janet Sharp represented the jumor Class as candldate for Halloween Oueen
She looked very beautlful and made us all proud of her For our project 1n the gym
we chose what we called a honl-utonk named It the D1amond Horseshoe and
made a blg h1t wxth the crowd
On February 16th after a lot of practlce and under the dlrectlon of Mrs H D
Maloch we presented the class play The Custer s Last Stand to a large
aud1ence who seemed to enjoy It
Most of the class IS mterested 1n sports and some both boys and glrls have
been successful on the basketball teams and are hkely to be just as good at softball
and on the track teams
We have been makmng preparatwns for the Jumor and Semor Banquet wh1ch 15
to be held on March 17th ln honor of the Semor Class of thls year who have been
successful and whose place we are gomg to attempt to fmll next year

Our class hopes to make a good record wh11e 1n dear old Harmony Grove
even though our class does not brmg to hxgh school many outstandmg talents We
have several good Jumor h1gh basketball softball and track team members who
carned well for dear old Harmony Grove About ten per cent of our class made
the honor roll All of our gxrls are enrolled for homemaklng and all of our boys
In agrlculture In add1t1on to the regular reqmred courses
We worked hard to elect our cand1date for Queen of Halloween Clemmtme
Germann but were defeated Plullxp George was her escort ln the fmal ceremomes
Our sponsor planned an educational tr1p for us to the Arkansas Forestery
Nursery at Bluff City with Mr I-lerr1ngton ln january Mr Adams the manager of
the nursery explamed the whole process of growlng pme tree seedmgs effxc1ently
We had a pxcmc lunch. Frlms were shown of the nursery and a profxtable day was
had by all.
We w1ll have a class party and pxcmc thrs spring, and hope we wmll be able
to conhnue the adventure of gaxmng knowledge and the abllxty to use lt m every-
day llfe throughout the years to come.

We have been well honored with athletic students The girls that have
made the Junior ball team are as follows Guards Fredia Sue Cook jackie
Daniel, Janice Smith, Lavon Goodgarne, and Lois Word. Forwards Chatta
Dene Mosley, Betty Lou Santifer, and joan Chambliss. The boys who have

Posey was selected as our Kmg The money that we made at the carmval was

remammg fund for the purchase of lxbrary books
Chrmstmas we had a very good dlnner 1n the lunch room In our room
we had fun, everyone got at least two presents We also had a party and mvlted
Valentme Day we had a pretty Valentme box and we fllled xt up Everyone
was pleased wmth the valentmes they got
We had to draw our house plan by scale, also draw the rooms separate
and draw the furmture In by scale. Then we drew all of them on colored paper.

Eskndge sent us a game that was brought over on the "Fx-1endsh1p Tram "
The game ll called a "Tour of France." It was made by hand by two boys who

Degree next year Entrxes were made 1n all d1str1ct judgmg contests by members
of the chapter wh1ch were held at Arkadelphma and Magnolxa A and M Several
members worked a day helpmg repaxr the State F F A camp at Hot Sprmgs The
chapter plans to attend thxs camp for one week sometune this summer Several

Three classes of Vocatlonal Agnculture are offered to students un 1949 1950
ln Agrlculture 1 whlch IS the 9th grade there are ZZ enrolled There are eleven
enrolled mn Agrlculture 11 whlch IS the 10th grade and 16 enrolled ln Agrlculture V
whlch encludes the boys IH the 11th and 12th grades Agrlculture 111 and Agrmulture
1V are alternated each year and the 11th and 12th grade boys are combmned 1n one
class An Agrlculture class IS two 45 minute perlods
All day classes are dlvlded lnto two types of teachmg 1 classroom lnstructlon
and held tr1ps Z shop lnstructlon and outslde work
Our F F A program wh1ch helps to teach leadershlp among boys IS carrmed
out as part of our all day teachlng classes
SUPERVISED FARMING PROGRAM Nmneteen and one half acres of cotton was
used as projects by boys the flrst year ln agr1culture The labor mcome on thms
cotton was 91609 00 There was twenty emght acres of corn planted as projects
Slxteen boys started a swme project by purchaslng at least a gilt pmg Most of
these projects w1ll be enlarged and contmued to be used as projects
Etght boys ralsed poultry the flrst year Poultry projects are especmally
sultable for boys who have llmlted land and facllmtles for carry1ng out larger projects
The total laborer Income of all boys on all projects was '42 762 O4 besldes the forty
slx productwe projects there were seventy two 1mprovement projects and smx hundred
ind forth e1ght supplementary farm practlce jobs Here were two hundred and eighteen

Harmony Grove ln our second year shop classes were planned and to date mneteen

The Senior Trip
The Senior Class trmp to New Orleans was a huge success We were there
from February bth to the 22nd Our arrwal there at 3 45 A M dldn t let us get
any sleep but we were dressed and ready to start out at 8 20 A M
On Saturday we toured French Quarters and took a two and one half hour
cruxse on the U S S Presmdent Whlle on thls tour we saw a portlon of New
On Sunday we went to church and then we went to the famous Blue Room
for an evenmgs entertamnment
On Monday mght we were guests at a Costume Ball ln the Y W C A and
also went to a parade
Mardl Gras was a very excxtmng day the parade was mterestmng and the
floats were beautmful
We left to come home Wednesday mornmg When we got to Baton Rouge we
