Baseball In the fall we started out athlet1cs by playmg baseball We played our fzrst game with the Athol Trojans and won by the score of 9 Z Our second game was wlth Gaylord Beavers The Cardmals came out on the long end of a 15 3 score Athol played a return game at Harlan The Cardinals won a close game by the score of 4 1 Next the Card1nals journeyed to Gaylord and shut the Beavers out 8 0 The Card1nals f1n1shed thelr fall baseball by wmnmg from Athol by a score 12 3 Anderson reheved St Claxr on the mound ln the fourth mnmg and pltched no h1t no run game for the remammg three mmngs Basketball The Cardmals opened their basketball season wnth Athol The game was close all the way wzth Harlan m front by eleven points at the fmal whlstle wlth a 50 39 score The Cardinals played thelr second game wlth Formosa The Cardinals talung the short end of the score from the strong Falcons The final score being 56 32 Harlan won over the Densmore five by a score of 57 Z9 for thelr second win of three starts Harlan Jour neyed to St Johns of Beloxt to take a 45 Z9 decxszon from the St Johns Blue Jays, wxthout the and of Casey Bargman our 6 3 forward The Harlan Cardxnals were lnvited to an xnvttatzonal tournament at Lebanon ln which Lebanon, Harlan Lxncoln and Mankato were playing Harlan played Mankato the first mght, Mankato wmmng by two pomts the score bemg 45 43 Crammer, Txpp Anderson, and Bargman all went out via the foul route Mankato makxng a basket just as the wlustle blew to wm the game, Harlan won a close game from Lmcoln for thxrd place The score being 44 45 Lebanon won over Mankato for fxrst place The Cardmals won easxly over the Esbon Lads by a margm of 43 73 Eldon Tipp dunked twenty four pomts and Marron Anderson followed close wxth twenty two pomts The Card mals went to play the hxghly touted Gaylord Beavers which were undefeated The Cardinals won on a last quarter scorxng spree by a score of 42 46 We journeyed to Densmore for our eighth game The Densmore Warrzors showmg 1m proved ball playmg showed the Harlan fxve a close game Harlan wmnmg by nine points The score bemg 41 50 The Cardinals won their ninth game from the Cawker City Prrates by a score of 65 31 The game was a well played game The Harlan lads went to Txpton to be surprised by a fine Tipton five The Cardinals edged them out by a close score of 35 2.4 1n a last quarter scorxng spurge Z4 . . , , o -. . Harlan went to Hunter next to play the Huntsmen The Cardinals lost by a 53 33 score Harlan lost thelr next game to the Downs Dragons The Gardmals suffered their coldest night of the season whxle losing by 48 Z4 Harlan made a trap to Clayton to play the Clayton Bulldogs and defeated them by a score of 62 36, Eldon Tipp lead the attack with twenty f1ve pomts Next Harlan squeezed by a hard fzghtlng Tipton team, the score was tled at the end of the first, second, and thzrd quarters, but Harlan came back ln the fourth quarter to wm by a score of 38 Z9 The Lebanon Broncos defeated the Cardinals by a score of 45 31 Harlan played wlthout regular forward Paul Bargman The Cardinals were defeated in thelr last scheduled game of the season by a strong Snuth Center team, Smxth Center led 19 8 at the half The Cards came wxthxn four polnts of S C in the last quarter but Smlth Center held the long end of a 35 30 Harlan was spotted fourth mn the District Tournament at Agra The Cardnnals drawing Kxrwm for the flrst night of play Harlan won by a score of 44 Z8 Harlan then played Portxs, which had downed the favored Kensmgton five, 1n the semz fmals Harlan talung was ahead at the half by two pomts The Cardinals gaxnmg a three point lead in the off1c1al time past stalled for tune A had pass accounted for the Logan s basket The Cardznals fmally vnnnzng 42 43 to wm first ln the District Tournament, whzch hadn t been done for several years by Harlan The Cardinals drew a bye m the Mankato Regional They then played Courtland who had won over Lebanon.
