Mrs. C. Richards, foods instructor, takes attend- RIICC. The home economics department consists of Social and Family Living, Foods, Clothing, and Consumer Skills. Home Economics 1 deals with basic home- making skills in food and clothing. Home Ec 2 teaches the skills of advanced foods, which in- cludes nutrition, dinners, and meats. Advanced clothing is taught in Home Economics 3. Social and Family Living presents the problems a student faces in her future role in society as a adult, and also as a wife and mother. Consumer Skills gives the student the ability to function in society by teaching the basics of money management. This class gives boys an opportunity to participate in certain areas of the home economics department. With this kind of background, the girls are better able to face the problems that will confront them when they become wives and mothers. Even if a girl did not intend to marry, she would find the skills acquired in this class extremely useful. Students learn to Serve Senior Laurel Anderson cuts out a childs' garment. Preparing for a Social and Family Living class is Miss C. Schwartzbauer. 26
