Business World The business department of Harding gives students an introduction to the world ofwork. The courses offered include stenography, per- sonal typing, accounting, bookkeeping, typing, clerical practice, shorthand, and secretarialprac- tice. This wide variety of subjects gives students the training necessary for jobs after graduation. Many people also take these courses as prepara- tion for a business school. The Business R. C. has many useful machines such as adding machines, dicta-phones, and elec- tric typewriters which serve as an aid for acquir- ing needed skills. Mr. B. Wilson, typing teacher. The art department has undergone a T change for the 1969-70 school year. The three art teachers have their own specific fields of instruction. Mrs. C. Fauske now teaches design and graphicsg Mr. G. Nord- gaard teaches drawing and paintingg and Mr. M. Sullivan teaches ceramics and sculpture. The art classes rotate three times during the course of a year. Art 1 gives students a basic orientation in art techniques. Art 2 and Art 3 are taken by students who feel that they would profit by getting a more advanced experience. In the spring the art department has a show displaying some of the better works done during the year. Some of these works are chosen to be shown at other exhibits in the city. juniors Cathy Perkins and Sharon Buhl print a wood cut. Aims of Men Mr. M. Sullivan advises his student, sophomore Mike Proft, on the fundamentals of ceramics. Mr. G. Nordgaard supervises his art class. 2 5
