. . 1? a494h9l114 of Me 45-; 2: Yes, it was nine months ago, Sept. 2, 194 , when the twelfth graders piled in, thinking that they conH slt hack and take it easy now that they were finally the high and mighty smiorS . . . but they found that there Lu was too much going 0nn to take it eniy. The 0111's of 1948 can lock back on :1 very busy year. Among the highlights. the North End Carnival Stands nut for memnries of fun. evrfite- went, and amusing incidents. Then, the football season starte ed with the openin'r game at Cmmcaut. The next evening found juniors and sentnrs open- ing the new year socially with the annual npenhouse. The freshmen and sophomores and the seventh and eighth graders followed on the next two Sat- urdays. Then, on October 1. the han'l gave a concert at Wenner Field. After a few football games, the first six weeks period ended. Everyone vowed up and down that next time he or she's do better by the school work. The senior class play, Nov. 5. uOur Hearts Were Young and Gay, kept things lively. No- vember 8, the Senior Girls, Club sponsored the annual HSadie Hawking Day I'ance. Durin: vacation, there was: a basketball carnival at Edemvond and a Senior Girlw awtl Pilot Club Christmas dance at Haz'bnrt Of course, basket- ball practice was continued, and many students got Christmas- rush j bs during the two weeks' 'zt-atiun. Soon after the re- opening nf the schools, the 39, L t dzd. The Pilot Club held their VaL entinets dance, Feb, 7. The Mariner Varieties saw students going helter-skelter.
