Student Council Activities The 1948-49 Student Council had a successful year. There were many things that the Council did with the co-operation of the students which had been left undone in years before. The first was to amend the constitution of 1940 which was obsolete in several parts. Some of our other accomplishments were! to place Student Council suggestion boxes in every homeroom, to establish a student court Cwhlch although far from perfect proved effective in most casesj, to sell Hancock Pennants at the football games to increase the amount in our treasury, to present several assembly programs, and to join the National A350018- tion of Student Councils. Through this National Assoc1at1on,we received many benefits, including several handbooks and a subscription to a student magazine. We,also.Jo1ned the Susauenango Rural Central and High School Student Council Association at the mid-winter meeting ln ' February. As members of the Susquenango Assoc1at1on,we were in position to exchange assembly orograms with neighboring schools, as well as Joining in sending delegates to the national convention at Cincinnati this summer. 25

All the fun of the school year and its work, the people who have moved to it and away from it, the ones who have received honors, and those who hold important offices in the clubs of the school, the work of these clubs, and the various projects of the different departments of the school, the senior play, the recitals, the advent of the kindergarten turtle, the snowball casualties, those who have perfect attendance, and the headline days when school is out because of snow, these, and all the other events which pack our school days, the JOURNALISM CLUB strives to record in its FLASH column, printed each week in the Hancock Herald, and its magazine the SPOTLIGHT published several times a year through the cooperation of the Commercial Department. This year's editor, Miss Dorothy Ferris, with her staff and her reporters and typists has done an excellent Job in making this year's record fairly accurate and complete. 26 I
