Believe it or not, he runs a farm all by himself, and that takes both bl'ail1S and bfawll- We needn't worry about Charlieg he can take care of himself and others as well. BARBARA JANE BOND Academic 5 ' GH Brown eyes--brpwn hair Barbara is a credit. to the scholastic standing of our school. She is an outstanding scholar but is not what you call a bookworm. Sie participates in all school activities and never misses a chance to help her school or her class. Somehow? this girl is going to make headlines . . . just wart and see. RICHARD LEE COPPERSMITH Academic 5 '9 Brown eyes--brown hair Dickie has always been a source of entertain- ment to us all. He can joke with the best of them and competes in almost any sport. He has a personality which provokes smiles from the saddest of situations. He knows when to become serious just as he knows when to be funny, as shown by his work in church groups. 6 'O 4r PHYLLIS MARIE CLAS Academic 5' 31' Blue eyes-red hair Phyl is the dazzling redhead of the Senior class. She is exactly like her giggle--cheery. Phyl is both a hard worker and a good friend. Her ambition is to either go to business school or'join a branch of the Women's Armed Forces. Good-luck, Phyllis, in whichever one you choose. DONALD LANDON DELI.. General 5 10 Blue eyes- brown hair Here you see a farmer who really knows what he's doing. His ambition is to own a perfect farm ami, brother, that's some goal. He'll make it, don't worry. He has grit and determination enough to do anything he puts his mind to, and we all admire him for it ROSALIE CZAWLYTKO Commercial 5 ' 42 H Blue eyes-brown hair Rosie is a wonderful girl to have in any class. She is friendly, happy-go-lucky and cooperative. Rosie has not yet decided as to her future, but the class is sure she will succeed in anything she chooses. sian . J if A 6 FREDA MAREA DAVIDSON Commercial 5 ' 5 H Brown eyes-brown hair Freda is the best natured kid you could ever hope to meet. There's nothing that she won't do to help you. She can always be found doing some typing for someone as a favor. No matter what's to be done, she does it with a smile. The lucky boy whose diamond she splashes will really be happy with her. You can bet on that! She still plans to have a career, thoughg probably in the commercial field, as it is there that her interest lies. CHARLES HAYES ENGLAND Academic 5 ' 9 H Hazel eyes--dark brown hair Well, here's a real live wire--always in every- thing for one purpose, a laugh. What do you think he plans to become--a mortician! It's a shame to waste his personality like that. However, he does make pretty good time with the girls! 7 3.- i CAROL VIRGINIA HARTMAN Academic 5 ' 3K H Green eyes-brown hair Despite her height, she is alwayss head and shoulders above the crowd in fashion, in sports, and number of friends. She has always taken pleasure in introducing stunning hair styles and will probably continue the pace at the U. of Md. where she wants to take up Political Science. just how would you like to have her in your class? VIRGINIA ELLEN FRUSH General 5 ' 7Z Blue eyes--dark blonde hair Ginie is going to go places, you wait and see. She has the looks and the personality to do it. Her desire to help others gives her winning ways. A fashion-setter in every sense of the word, probably because she has such good taste. We know she will be successful as a buyer. if 1 . . .fff .'. f 1 5 Aw 5 PERRY LEE KIDD General 5 ' 10 Brown eye s-- brown ha ir Perry likes to have a good time. He's what you'd call the perfect practical jokester. But he never pulls a prank to be smart: it's just to let you know that he's around and we all like him for it. Consequently he has lots of friends, boys and girls alikeg and he always will have friends just as long as he has that big smile for which he is famous. 8 HOWARD JACK LEISTER Academic 6 ' 4 Blue eyes--blonde hair Our Colossus of Rhodes in animation, and what's more he has basketball talent. He hopes Duke's athletic program has a place for himg how- ever, he has his sights set on a job as a civil engineer. There's not a person who doesn't like him. l-le has a flare for classy clothes and petty girls. Hmm ..... he may even surprise himself. but t Q.. DAVID LEROY LEPPO Academic S ' 11 Blue eyes--blonde hair This kid is a crackerjack! He likes all sports, is a whiz in any field of science, and loves to debate--particularly with the teachers. WILLIAM scoff MERRYMAN 5 ' 1 1 Academic Blue eye s--blonde hair Here is the musician of our happy family. He plays a mean set of drums. Scott plans to enter the field of sacred music at Fort Wayne Bible College. He should get along well, both scho- lastically and socially, as he has a most pleasant personality. So if you see a handsome, smiling band leader, look twice--it might be Scott. RICHARD ARNOLD MARTIN Academic 5 ' 9 2 Vll Brown eye s--brown hair Amold enjoys working with people more than anything else. That is why he liked being Editor of Little Echo. Other interests are art, literature, music, and dancing. JAN ET MARIE MILLENDER Academic 5 ' Blue eyes--auburn hair janet is a wholesome individual who spends a lot of her time baby-sitting. She is an earnest church worker as well as class worker. By the way, she can bake the best cakes and pies ymx've ever seen. Her future is going to be devoted to nursing. We all feel certain that she'll do well, because she has had past experience working ar Sinai, and has already the patience and gentle- ness of a nurse. 9 ROBERT EDWARD PORTERFIELD Academic 5 ' 11 Green eyes--brown hair Robert is, without a doubt, one of the ablest leaders a class could hope for. He was unani- mously elected senior class president, and has successfully done his duty. He has an interest in furthering his education, particularly in the field of photography. He's already a crack semi- professionalist. We were lucky to have such a leader in our class. EARL LYNN RILL General 6' Brown eyes-brown hair Lynn is our star basketball player. He is one of the leaders of the league in scoring. He is also interested in mechanical work and keeping his car in good shape. Another thing for which he is noted is his dead- pan but humorous expressions. He has a special knack for making people laugh at no one's ex- pense. That's why he has so many friends. He plans to enter the army or air force. 10 MARJORIE ANN RILL Commercial 5 '4Z H Hazel eyes--black hair We all think Margie looks a lot like Liz Taylor. However, she is more interested in being a secre- tary than a movie star. Her attractive clothes and hair style would draw the attention of anyone. She is a very helpful and willing worker around school. Best of luck, Margie! JANICE LaRUE RICHARDS Commercial 5 ' 6 Blue eyes--blonde hair More people have seen Janice laughing than any other way and, brother, don't ever try to kid her because you'll get the worst end of the bar- gain. She always has a remark ready, sometimes amusing, but always effective. She has more intimate friends than any other senior. The reason, of course, is her desire to comfort and help every- one. It is safe to say she could never hurt any- one's feelings. lt's just her nature. VERNON VICTOR PARRISH General 5 ' 8 H Brown eyes--brown hair Vernon is interested in the field of mechanics, as exemplified by his love for cars. He can al- ways be seen either in a car or under the hood of one. He likes to sport the ladies, and that re- quires a car where Vernon is concerned. Broad-minded and understanding, he is good natured but firm in his beliefs. He definitely ob- jects to'being bossed. Good luck in the field of engineering. Il VIRGINIA ANN SEAKS Academic 5 l 6 H Blue eyes--brown hair It is fair to say this sweet kid is probably the most popular girl in the school. We'll always remember Ann's nice ways and feel certain she'll soon obtain her M.. R. S. degree. PATRICIA MARIE SHERIDAN General Business 5 ' SMH Blue eyes--blonde hair Pat has been with us only for about a year but she certainly has made a hit with all of the class . . . He has successfully blended seri- ousne ss of nature and a smile to produce a look of distinction which is a rarity in young men of our age. Bud will be pleased at having such a noble appearance, for a good impression is a must in the business world, and Bud is all business. 12 615 EDDIE CLINTON SIMMONS Academic 5 l 9 H Brown eyes--brown hair This boy has one outstanding characteristic, and that is that he'll never say I quit. You'll probably hear him say, I'll try. Ed is serious, but only because he has to be. As Editor-in-Chief of the school paper, he has worked against terrific odds and succeeded. He has strength of character, but above all the desire to work with and for others. He'll do well in college, and you can bet your life that he'll never let anyone down. CAR LTON FOOKS THOMAS 5 ' 9 General Brown eyes--brown hair Here is a typical three-letter man. lle's tops in track, plays first-string varsity basketball, and is the fastest leg man of our soccer team. None of it has gone to his head eitherg that's an example of his modesty. When we say modest we don't mean shy. He's quite a ladies' man, as you can probably tell. In fact, he's everybody's man. PAUL JOSEPH YINGLING 6' 5 General Brown eyes--black hair Paul, better known as the Eiffel Tower's double, is a happy-go-'lucky sort of fellow, who's always helping others in his friendly manner. Paul is the greatest class tease, and in the middle of any excitement. Basketball has always been his first love. We'll remember you, Paul. 13 JOAN ELENOR STANSBURY Academic 5 5 ' 6 s Blue eye s--blonde hair To us this girl is the most resolute of any one in our class. She is interested in church work and has strength of character. She plans to attend Union Memorial Hospital for nurse's training. This girl is one of the friendliest in the class. GERALDINE ROMAINE WERNER Commercial 5' 3 Blue eyes--light,brown hair Gerry is our beauty queen, and has been seen in many beauty contests. No wonder, she really has what it takes! And that's not all, she has the sweetest disposition you could imagine. I don't know who the lucky boss will be Qshe wants to be a private secretaryj but we all envy him. P.S.
